4 Rare Antique 1920's Fenton Carnival Pink Glass 5 Open Swan Open Salt Dishes
Offering four, individual matching, iridescent pink carnival glass Fenton open dish swans. These original ones are very rare. Swans belonged to my great aunt and I was told she used them to hold mints on her dinner table during parties but in the old catalogs they are called, open salts or match holders. This set of four is from the 1920’s before Dugan bought the molds. I did my best in the photos to catch their true color but it was extremely difficult. I would call them Pink. Yet there is a shimmering iridescence that brings out other colors like gold and orange. Typical of Carnival Glass. The swans measure 5 1/4″ nose to tail and 2.5″ across the wings and are very detailed in the glass. They are not perfect. Along the top edge of one swan’s wing there are some tiny nicks. I have noted it in the photos. I also found a rough spot on the tail of one although you cannot see any chip in the glass. It might be a rough place left unpolished when it came out of the mold. I have also noted it in the photos. The bottom is collared but not marked. Thank you for stopping! This item is in the category “Pottery & Glass\Decorative Pottery & Glassware\Figurines”.
