Rare small size school girl sampler. Rare to be this small and very narrow form. Sampler itself measures just 3 1/4 inches across by 6 3/4 inches tall. Has multi colored cross stitching of the alphabet, with small motifs down below of what looks to be a bird, flowers and other things. Nice primary colors of blue, red, green, and yellow. One light color looks to be faded. It is set in a bit of a little later frame. The frame measures 7 1/8 inches across by 11 1/8 inches tall. Looks to be in great condition, and stitched on homespun linen. On the backside is handwritten Early Sampler, not a family piece. I have not taken it out of the frame so as not to disturb it. My opinion is to date it late 18th to early- mid 19th century. Super sweet and rare size. RARE EARLY-MID 19TH CENTURY AME RI CAN ANTIQUE TOOLED, HAND-CUT, HAMMERED & SOLDERED HANGING TIN MATCH HOLDER, W/LOWER COMPARTMENT, DECORATED W/ BUNDLE OF WHEAT/6-POINTED. [Evidence previous mustard yellow painted surfaces]. Early-mid 19th century Ame ri can antique primitive hand tooled tinware & decorative metalware. 8″ Height x 5″ Width x 1 34 Depth. Found here in New England in southern New Hampshire. It remains as it was discovered in the southern New Hampshire 18th century, early post and chestnut beam barn, still hanging by an old plastered wall, where it had hung on an upright beam on a cut nail in a small room with a wood stove, earlier used as a workshop. It remains as it was found, with remnants and evidence of having been previously decorated with mustard yellow paint. It’s unclear if this painted surface had completely failed and was at some point dry-scrapped to reveal the hand tooled edges and especially the hand tooled image of the Star of David nestled among a bundle of wheat in the center of the tin match holder’s back wall. It’s perforated at the top with a drilled hole, where it was designed to hang on a nail on a wall or beam. The upper perimeter of the piece is hand cut and has a distinctive floral design profile, with hammered, tooled slots that were struck at an angle, populating its curvilinear edges. The interior of the back tin sidewall is decorated with a tooled, relaxed bundle of wheat grass with a distinctive and singular 6-pointed Star of David nestled among the stalks of wheat in the center. This no doubt was a reference to scripture and to the Old Testament, where scripture informed nearly every resident of late 18th and 19th century early New England and often decorative accessories, such as this, visually referenced scripture and in this case The Star of David, which much like the matches (strikes) it would have contained, would shed much needed spiritual light on their hard-scrabble, meager early New England, rural existences, especially in the trying, often disease ridden cold, winter months, where literally survival and not much else, was the primary concern. An early New England cultural artifact from pre-Civil War New Hampshire. Good to Very Good overall antique condition. 100% original antique condition. Rare Early Mid Century Converted Medical Health Lamp By Barber 1950’s. Things dont get any more mid-century modern than this fantastic and rare converted Barber medical health lamp. The design is fantastic, real atomic age. It was made by the British company Barber. Barber was based out of Bournville near Birmingham and they were known for the very highest quality medical health lamps from the last century. Many of their designs were only available on prescription which makes them much rarer than the Pifco or Philps lamps. To convert this to a more useful table lamp we removed the old infra-red element and fabricated a mount to accept a reproduction Bakelite style bulb holder. The internals were all rewired and because of the exceptional quality we were able to re-use the original switch. We added a generous 1.5 m period correct vintage braided cable and a UK 3 pin plug. The lamp is fully earthed and it has been PAT tested. To complete the lamp we have fitted a 95mm Edison incandescent globe bulb (included). When lit the filament is clearly visible and it reflects off the polished rear panel. Whats great about this item is that it has both front and back covers are included. These can be fitted when the lamp isnt in use by removing the bulb and it looks fantastic! Dont miss out on this lamp. Its the only Barber one with this atomic age design that I have ever seen. This item is in good vintage condition with just minor discolouration and pitting to the main dome front and rear. We make products that are as unique as you so if you don’t see a light that you like? Let us make something just for you. Rare find from estate sale! This is a beautiful porcelain teacup and saucer made by Flight, Barr & Barr between 1813 and 1840 – but most probably circa 1815, which was the Regency era. Peach ground gold gilt leaf pattern. This peach ground color is rare as it was very difficult to produce; if the kiln temperature was only slightly too high or too low, the color would come out an ugly brown and the items would have to be thrown away. Given that kilns were fired on coal fires, you can imagine how hard it was to achieve this beautiful color and it would only have been done for the most exclusive sets. The pinched handle is typical for Flight and Barr. Meaning free from cracks chips repairs or crazing. No signs of use for example (utensil marks, scuffs, stains, gold loss or pattern wear). Which leads me to believe this set was for display only as part of a collection. Referenced in Geoffrey A.
