An elegant antique German silver snuff box dating to the early 19th century, featuring a finely detailed raised relief panel depicting a graceful swan flanked by two cherubs amid scrolling foliage. The clean, understated design highlights the beautifully executed central motif, reflecting the refined craftsmanship of the period. A desirable collector’s piece, ideal for enthusiasts of antique silver, European decorative arts, and tobacciana. Period: Early 19th Century. Dimensions: 7.5 × 4.5 × 1.5 cm. Raised relief decoration with swan and cherubs. Very good antique condition with light surface wear and minor signs of age and use. The hinge functions properly, and the box displays beautifully. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
VERY RARE RARE AUTHENTIC EXAMPLE. In the 1700s and 1800s European silversmiths produced exquisite and rather exotic containers / VINAIGRETTES, designed to contain a sponge soaked in vinegar or aromatic oils. Early 19th century Coalport lidded tureen. Ornate gilded handle/finial and gold gilding to lid and base. Unusual hand painted swan emblem to one side and an owl to the other. Some time ago, I came across the meaning of the swan which looks like it is breathing fire but annoyingly I have not been able to find it since. Dates to first half of 19th century so no backstamp. Condition is very good for age. There is a small hole in the gilding of the handle but this has been caused during manufacture. The gilding is vibrant on the lid but there is loss to the rim of the base. A small firing flaw to the base which does not affect in any way. Not perfect but almost for an item of over 150 years! How good it would be to find this set. This item is in the category “Collectables\Kitchen & Home\Dinnerware & Serveware\Tureens”. The seller is “sterling1952″ and is located in this country: GB. This item can be shipped to United Kingdom.
Offering four, individual matching, iridescent pink carnival glass Fenton open dish swans. These original ones are very rare. Swans belonged to my great aunt and I was told she used them to hold mints on her dinner table during parties but in the old catalogs they are called, open salts or match holders. This set of four is from the 1920’s before Dugan bought the molds. I did my best in the photos to catch their true color but it was extremely difficult. I would call them Pink. Yet there is a shimmering iridescence that brings out other colors like gold and orange. Typical of Carnival Glass. The swans measure 5 1/4″ nose to tail and 2.5″ across the wings and are very detailed in the glass. They are not perfect. Along the top edge of one swan’s wing there are some tiny nicks. I have noted it in the photos. I also found a rough spot on the tail of one although you cannot see any chip in the glass. It might be a rough place left unpolished when it came out of the mold. I have also noted it in the photos. The bottom is collared but not marked. Thank you for stopping! This item is in the category “Pottery & Glass\Decorative Pottery & Glassware\Figurines”.
