THIS CAN BE DESCRIBED AS HAVING A CRUCIFORM ARRANGEMENT OF MEDALLIONS IN THE IZNIK STYLE AND IS A VARIANT OF THE “ARABESQUE MEDALLION” AND THERE ARE TWO SIMILAR, BUT NOT AS NICE EXAMPLES, IN THE COMPREHENSIVE BOOK “DAM ASCUS TILES” BY ARTHUR MILLNER _ PAGE 234 & 169 WHICH IS CALLED “FLORAL STAR”. This is a genuine old minton majolica chinaman teapot, it measures about 13.5cm high, 18cm long. Probably dates from around 1870 or so, its impressed MINTONS on the base. This is an extremely rare old teapot, you will find lots of reproductions but this is guaranteed genuine. Please read condition report. Modelled as a Chinese actor in a turquoise floral robe holding a Noh mask from which the spout projects. His head the lid and the handle formed by his braided hair.
