Antique Skookum Bully Good Squaw Papoose Doll Early Rare Left Glancing Looking
Posted by admin On September 29, 2020
Antique Bully Good Native American Indian Squaw Papoose Composition Doll. VERY RARE Left Glancing Left Looking. Most Skookum dolls were made so they look to the right. Some look to the left but are quite rare and hard to find. Label on bottom of foot – The key to dating this doll is the paper label on the bottom of the suede covered pine wooden foot. The label displays a fylfot or twirling log, a Native American good luck symbol, today commonly referred to as a swastika. The company used this label during the 1920s. Suede Moccasins – An additional method of determining the production date of the dolls is by studying the footwear. The earliest dolls from around 1913 had mocasins made of leather. By 1918, the mocassins were simulated with suede applied to wood, and painted designs. By 1924, they were molded of composition material. This doll was made between 1918 and 1924. Smoke Free, Pet Free. The item “Antique Skookum Bully Good Squaw Papoose Doll Early Rare Left Glancing Looking” is in sale since Sunday, January 26, 2020. VERY RARE WELLER AME RI CAN ARTS & CRAFTS SIGNED EARLY 20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE CERAMIC FROG BOWL, W/GREEN, BONE WHITE & METALLIC BURNT SIENNA MOTTLED GLAZE DEPICTING A FROG PERCHED ON THE EDGE OF A POND NEXT TO A BLOOMING WATER LILLY. Weller antique Ame ri can Arts & Crafts figurative art pottery and ceramic vessels. 11 ¼ Length x 7. ¾” Depth x 4″ Height including the frog x 2 ½ Height (Bowl). Extremely rare and in simply outstanding, estate fresh condition. Not only are these early 20th century antique Weller Ame ri can Arts & Crafts hand decorated ceramic’frog bowls’ hard to find, but to encounter one in this kind of extremely well-preserved condition, is well, almost simply too much to ask. A plaything and personal artifact of the gods. Gorgeous and an exquisite, nearly unparalleled antique Weller piece of Ame ri can Arts & Crafts ceramic art. Incredible glaze, figuration and surfaces make this a memorable, extraordinary work of antique Ame ri can ceramic art. One magnificent, killer bowl. Clearly signed on the base plate with a black ink Weller Pottery maker’s mark stamp. The small episode of bone white ceramic glaze loss on the base plate to the right and top of the Weller Pottery black ink stamp, is the only noticeable, fairly significant instance of appreciable damage to the dish. No attempt has been made to rectify or to correct this condition issue or to professionally restore this affected area. We decided to leave it exactly as we found it where it was discovered in the South Shore Massachusetts estate where it had been, largely undisturbed and perhaps forgotten, for years and years, apparently with only one previous owner. God created bowls and then God created bowls for Himself. Very Good to Excellent overall antique condition. Please scroll down the page and view enlarged photos below.
