RARE Pair Antique French Baccarat & Dore Bronze Early Automobile Flower Vases, c. All items and photos are the express property of Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. No reproduction without prior written consent. We’ll be sending out sale notices and special deals to our’Favorites’ customers. Now and then we find a single of these bracketed floral vases which were used in early elegant luxury automobiles. I don’t think I’ve ever found a pair before. They’re rare to find even as singles, and are highly sought after by automobile collectors, restoration shops. You’ll note the flat backside and the wool bracket which would slide into a bar bracket adjacent to the rear seat of the chauffeured vehicle. Full measurements noted on the photos. Very good to excellent condition, no flaws to note on the dore bronze encasements, and the two faceted and blown crystal inserts have no breaks nor cracks, though you’ll note that the top rims have roughness. It seems to be the original cut, but that seems unlikely given the quality of the set. Very Louis XVI in style, bow top garland and other elements of design from that era. French, in from France. They’re lovely to hang in a guest bath, flanking mirror, too. We’re easy to deal with. You are very important! Our fine inventory is very important. And your ranking of our performance is also very important! We wish to keep our 4.9 – 5 star ratings in all categories. Antique and rare, two Royal Doulton mini vases, 1911, HB / LA
Posted by admin On February 23, 2022
These are two very small, very old, very exquisite, mini vases made by Royal Doulton. Both vases are in perfect condition. There are no scratches, cracks, or chips on either piece. The finish on each is also in outstanding condition, without any signs of crazing whatsoever. The bottom marks tell us a lot about these two little fellows, but they don’t tell us everything. These pieces carry the company mark that was in use from 1901 until 1922 at Burslem. After 1922 a similar back stamp was used, however, it was missing the crown. These pieces are quite rare as it was a mark that was not widely used. That last sentence is from an article on the internet, not us! The designers’ inscribed Initials. These initials are done by hand however they are unique in that they are inscribed and not written on the pieces. We believe those are Herbert Betteley’s initials and have done extensive comparisons to validate that assumption. There is a picture included with some comparisons for you. The “a” with the two rectangles one on top of the other is the signature mark used by Lizzie Axford. This came from one source, and we could not find any further information regarding Ms. However, if you search “Royal Doulton, Lizzie Axford” you will see other works credited to her. Those pesky numbers by the rim (7660). They are there, we’ve seen them on other pieces, but we are not sure exactly what they designate. It may be the pattern number, but a pattern number should have a single character before it, these do not. However, there are limited options as to what you are going to find stamped on a Royal Doulton and the pattern number is the only thing that starts to make sense. WE ARE NOT Royal Doulton experts. We did put our time into researching these pieces and believe the information above is accurate. However, we cannot, and do not guarantee this information. What we do guarantee is that we will never, knowingly, put any false or misleading information in any of our listings. Yeah, we’re pretty confident we got the story straight on these vases. Also, please note that none of our prices are set in stone. If you like what you see, but the price is too low, we will raise it for you! Or we can go the other way as well. Just drop us a note; it never hurts to ask. This item is in the category “Antiques\Other Antiques”. The seller is “brad.white” and is located in this country: US.
