RARE MUSEUM QUALITY EARLY 17th C. FLEMISH STAINED GLASS WINDOW SINGLE PANEL On this panel is depicted a gentleman Possibly in a Tavern. Holding in his right hand an early white clay pipe. He is most definitely well to do wearing his beautifully detailed finery. We call this panel. “GENT SMOKING A CLAY PIPE”. Condition is EXCELLENT, which is remarkable when one considers its age of 400 years. It will be very well packed. About the deveopments and styles of pipes. By the early part of the 17th century, the clay tobacco pipe industry began to develop in many local centres throughout Britain and in many parts of the Netherlands. These early pipes typically had a short stem with a large bore diameter and a small “acorn” shaped, rouletted bowl that angled away from the smoker.
