Rare Midcentury Danish Rosewood Folding Side Table By Illum Wikkelso / Silkeborg

Very rare and beautiful rosewood triangular folding side table by Illum Wikkelsø for CFC Silkeborg of Denmark, sometime in the 1950s. Ingenius and delicate construction, solid rosewood legs and edging, fabulous flamed veneer to the top, the best I’ve seen. Take a look on the net. These are very few and far between, I have counted two pairs and just three individual examples, none with a veneer as spectacular as this. In beautiful original condition, brass hinges and a neat sprung ball and peg’stop’ for the swing-out gate leg. Nice and firm, no wobbles, reassuringly smooth action. Alas the Silkeborg badge has dropped out of its recess at some point in the past. You will see that to the underside. I found a photograph so you know what to look for when you’re out and about!
