RARE Antique Early 1800s-1900s Qing Dynasty Red Lacquer Wedding Basket
RARE Antique Early 1800s-1900s Qing Dynasty Red Lacquer Wedding Basket. This handmade Qing Dynasty red lacquer wedding basket with hand-carved handle detailing was made around the early 1800s-1900s and is in good condition for its age. The basket is lacquered in a rich red color with bands of brass surrounding the base and center of the basket. Traditionally these baskets would have been used to hold gifts from the bride and groom. Dimensions: 18″ x 15″ x 10. There are parts where the lacquer has naturally faded revealing the black underneath the red. There are some areas where the wood is beginning to separate as seen in the photos. The brass has oxidized with a nice patina, but can be polished if desired. Some minor surface wear as seen in the photos. All net proceeds of this sale will benefit Austin Pets Alive! One of the nation’s largest no-kill organizations.
