Great rare early Japanese Meiji cloisonné charger 30.5cm across dating to 1870-80. Great dense early scene featuring butterflies, a spider with web that has caught a fly, a waterfall, and peonies on rocks. In good condition, some pockmarks to enamel (usual for early enamel work). Unusual grain of rice and Buddhist flowers border. Unusual dark blue ground to back.
