Rare and Superb 18th Century Delft Pair of Baluster Vases in the Chinese Transitional Period style in imitation of the Chinese Imported vases of the same period most probably made in the Netherlands. These vases are incredibly decorative and of good size with a lovely free interpretation design and quality of painting. This is a great example of an increasingly rare to find pair of vases of this form in 18th Century Delft pottery and in very good condition with minimal wear. The tin glaze wares were made to copy the Oriental Porcelain from China and Japan which were far beyond the pocket of most at that time. Far more fragile than the Oriental porcelain dishes sadly pieces of this period are increasingly hard to find. Condition is very good for Delft of this age. Some loss of glaze to the edging which is common on early delft. Dimensions: Height 17cm (almost 7 inches) Max Diameter: 15cm (just under 6 inches). The item will be very well packed and insured. This is a part of a large Conception Classic collection of Early Pottery and Furniture from the 17th Century and 18th Century.
Antique 6 piece German painted wooden doll size kitchen set with provenance. There are a few other pieces that are included. It comes with a hand written note from the owner’s daughter. It states the owner was born February 26, 1894. She played with this kitchen as a child. The kitchen once had a kerosene stove for cooking and a small sink with a water tank behind it. Eventually it was packed away and brought out each Christmas. I have taken a photo of a 9 1/2 doll standing in front of the kitchen to give you an idea about the scale. The doll is not for sale. The pieces are described as follows. 1 China Hutch – height – 16 1/2″, width – 8″, depth – 4 3/4. The doors are hinged, and the upper doors have glass panels with painted detail, and there is some old green paper doilies on the bottom shelves. 2 Side Board – height – 9 1/2″, width – 7 1/2″, depth – 3 1/2. 3 Table – height – 4 1/2″, width – 8 1/2″, depth – 4 1/4. 4 Chair – height – 6 1/2″, width – 2 1/2″. 5 Bench – height – 3 1/8″, width – 5 3/4″, depth – 2 3/8. 6 Wall Rack For Hanging Items – height – 5 3/16″, width – 6 7/8″. There are tiny nails for hanging items. 7 Metal Wall Rack – width – 4 1/4. This was used for hanging kitchen items. 8 Three handmade pot holders. 9 Handwritten history of the doll furniture and the owner of these items. 10 Group of 3 piece china dishes. Early 1900s Soccer/Football Boots. No branding – a common occurrence for football boots before the 1920s, when many boots were made by local shoemakers to order for teams. Instead of modern studs, these boots used wooden or leather strips (sometimes with metal reinforcement) nailed across the sole. This was an early engineering solution that provided better traction on soft or muddy grass. Increase the contact area with the ground, which prevented slipping. Prevent twisting of the foot – in those days, shoes were made quite rigid and dense to protect the foot. Were easier to manufacture than individual studs, especially considering the technology of the early 20th century. After around century of existence they. No repairs were produced and still not needed. They are thick and not falling apart, absolutely wearable! Size – no indication, insole measured at 27.2cm, which is size US9, EU42. FINE EARLY & RARE ANTIQUE SYKES LEATHER SMALL POCKET SIZE WHISKEY FLASK 1830-60s. FINE EARLY & RARE ANTIQUE SYKES LEATHER CLAD 2 PIECE. DESIRIOUS SMALL POCKET SIZE HAND MADE GLASS WHISKEY FLASK. WITH ORIGINAL CORK CIRCA 1830 – 1860’s. This early handmade flask is a heavy duty, i. Is clad in a very heavy leather formed and stitched base with a small separate flat piece at the base bottom, and a form fitted very heavy leather shaped stitched removable top piece. This is a desirous small pocket size flask that is about 5 ½” tall x 2 ½” wide x 1 3/8 thick and heavy for its size at 5.9 ounces or 169 grams. The flask shape is in a bottle shape with heavy duty stitching on the sides and top with the bottom flat panels glued on and shaped to fit. The heavy leather bottom wrapping is permanently attached to the glass bottle. Originally, the top was designed to have a tight fit to the glass top that makes the entire flask covered in thick leather when closed. As expected, all-natural material shrinks over time, and the top now has an even tighter fit to the top portion of the glass, and both the top and bottom leather has shrunken and now has a gap between the top and base. Note that almost all early flasks in this style have the center gap from naturally occurring shrinkage and is an idiosyncrasy of this pattern flask. Note that the original cork has shrunken with a loose fit to the flask. The cork fits comfortably inside the top and does not prevent the leather top from closing all the way. If you close the top of the flask to the base all the way, you need the small gap to be able to force up the leather top as it is a very tight fit. Note there are small dots in the center of the top lip and bottom lip that designate which side matches up with the base. This leather covered flask is Maker marked SYKES and dates to the 1830 – 1860’s period. The glass is hand blown into a mold, and the leather wrapping is hand made to fit each flask. The glass is about 3/16 thick at the spout. The glass has the sideline from the mold and also the very early random slight undulations found on early hand-blown glass. The glass is fairly clear, with, as expected, some cloudiness inside. There appears to be a thin crescent shaped indentation on the inner lip that is smooth under magnification and is part of the glass casting. Complete with the original cork that has shrunken over time and no longer seals the contents; but displays well. This is a well-made, heavy-duty SYKES flask that would have been used by Frontiersmen, Hunters, Trappers, Travelers, Horseback riders, Military officers, Mexican American War or U. Civil War soldiers, Gamblers, Sporting Gents, and anyone needing to protect their precious liquid contents. Overall, in fine condition considering its extreme age of about 160 to 190 years old. Exceptions include holidays, power outages, and evacuations.
