Rare Antique Early Primitive 1800's Pierhead Portrait Schooner Nautical Folk Art
This is an exceptional piece of early 1800’s (circa 1815) oil on canvas American nautical folk art. Depicts a two-masted schooner with an American flag flying, depicted in a harbor scene. Age related damage including one larger patch of damage to the canvas measuring just under three-quarters of an inch (see last photographs). The frame is newer, most likely under 100 years-old. Label on canvas is from Dan C. Caldwell, a general store in Russell, KY, purveyors of books, stationary, paints, oils, brushes, cigars and tobacco, wall paper, etc. The canvas currently does not sit flush in the frame in one corner, but that could be remedied. Canvas measures 27″ x 22″ and frame measures 32″ x 27.5″.

This is a superb and rare to find Antique Danish. The heavy Silver case and face are in good condition with just a little age-related wear, but no dings or dents. The base could do with tightening a little to the clock as there’s a very small amount of movement, but access isn’t possible, however it is still stable. The clock movement is in working order and winds up as it should from the crown to the top. Pulling the crown up allows the hands to be moved manually to set the correct time. There is an inscription to the front with the name “Joyette” to the top and the date “21 April 1919″ to the bottom. To the top and reverse of the case are the Danish hallmarks for 1919 as well as the makers mark and name of A. The case measures approximately 15cm high and 9.5cm by 6cm at the base. It iappearsto be in excellent antique condition, including no cracks in the glass, or breaks the mesh. Seems to be in good working condition however there is no wick if there’s supposed to be one it does need polishing. Fantastic piece of miner’s or maritime history! Very Rare Walkers Excelsior Yacht-Log Mark 11. Taffrail type with outrigger pattern bracket. Commencd in 1915 and discontinyed in 1926. Has oil cap Enamel face with 2 dials larger reads up to 50 miles smaller reads up to 10 miles brass hinged cover, length 9 inches, Rotator has 4 blades stamped with anchor motif initials T W and the word Excelsior Length 11 inches Details suggest manufacture date circa 1920. I have added a photo so you can see the difference between the MK 111 and MK 11 EXTREMELY RARE the MK111 large dial reads up to 100 miles twice as many as the rare MK11 Also has a oiling piont on the front of the brass holder.
