Antique Early 1800s French 18k Gold Perpignan Garnet Marquise Ring Hallmarked. Bezel: 1.9 cm (length), 1.1 cm (width). Ring size: US8 (#56). This is a marquise ring of Perpignan garnet, France, circa 1880. The back is also tightly closed with 18k gold, showing the distinctive technique of connecting the center stone to the surrounding stones. Among the Perpignan garnets, the older ones from the 1800s have excellent color and are rarely available. The shank has a leaf design, which shows the beauty of antique garnets in harmony with nature. There are some stains from age, but there is no damage to the garnet and it is in very good condition. The eagle’s head engraving, which indicates 18k or higher gold in France, is also clearly visible. There is a slight depression in the closed setting area on the back, but this is common on older Perpignan garnet jewelry. Please check the sixth photo.
