Rare Antique Art Deco (1920s) Czechoslovakian “Epiag” 24ct Gold Plated & Hand Painted Teapot In Perfect Condition. Very generously and meticulously gold gilded by a master craftsman of the highest order. This teapot is still as new and has never been used. It has only ever been used as an ornamental cabinet item. Needs to be seen to be fully appreciated as the photographs really do not do it justice. The gold plating is 100% intact. Please browse all 12 sets of photographs for size, weight and condition as they are self explanatory. Please have a look at the last photographs and if you require additional pictures please ask. The back stamp was used from the 1920s onwards, stating Script’EPIAG’ and’CZECHOSLOVAKIA’. Each company had their own variation of the mark although most of these items were made in’CARLSBAD’ area of CZECHOSLOVAKIA. There is a good reason for the “OEPIAG” and “EPIAG” marks. Both OEPIAG and EPIAG were associations of different potteries put together by the Austrian Government in 1918 to promote the sale of Bohemian pottery and porcelain. The name “OEPIAG” is an acronym for “Österreichische Porzellan Industrie AG, ” which translates to Austrian Porcelain Industry. Any pottery with this mark generally predates 1920, when the name was changed Erste Böhemische Porzellan Industrie AG-First Bohemian Porcelain Industry-and the mark was switched to EPIAG. Carlsbad or Karlsbad is a mark used on china made by several factories in Germany, Austria, and Bavaria. Many pieces were exported to the United States. Many of the pieces are biscuit jars, bowls, plates, and platters from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Carlsbad is a city in Czechoslovakia, home to the factories that made the exported porcelain. Most of the pieces available today were made after 1891. Czechoslovakia is a popular term with collectors. The name, first used as a mark after the country was formed in 1918, appears on glass and porcelain, and other decorative items. Porcelain made in Czechoslovakia was exported to Europe, North and South America, and Australia. Although Czechoslovakia split into Slovakia and the Czech Republic on January 1, 1993, the name continues to be used in some trademarks. Antique Early 1800s French 18k Gold Perpignan Garnet Marquise Ring Hallmarked. Bezel: 1.9 cm (length), 1.1 cm (width). Ring size: US8 (#56). This is a marquise ring of Perpignan garnet, France, circa 1880. The back is also tightly closed with 18k gold, showing the distinctive technique of connecting the center stone to the surrounding stones. Among the Perpignan garnets, the older ones from the 1800s have excellent color and are rarely available. The shank has a leaf design, which shows the beauty of antique garnets in harmony with nature. There are some stains from age, but there is no damage to the garnet and it is in very good condition. The eagle’s head engraving, which indicates 18k or higher gold in France, is also clearly visible. There is a slight depression in the closed setting area on the back, but this is common on older Perpignan garnet jewelry. Please check the sixth photo. Extremely rare Ferro Toso Barovier glass bulldog, from the late 1930s. The color is red paste glass with gold leaf. The eyes are white latticmo with black pupils. It is in excellent vintage condition. There is a sharp pontil mark, on the dogs hind quarters. I believe the hot glass tail was was affixed over the top of the pontil mark, it in order to conceal it. This was originally done at the factory. The tail has not been broken or repaired. See the last few photographs. I have examined it with a jewelers loop. The dog measures approximately 4″ long 2-1/4″ wide by 3-3/8 tall. The piece still retains its original foil label. This very rare label reads GENUINE VENETIAN GLASS ITALY F&B Co. From this short lived entity. This is important piece, in a fantastic and very desirable color, designed by Ercole Barovier with the unusual label still in place. It would make a great addition to any Italian glass collection. This item is in the category “Pottery & Glass\Decorative Pottery & Glassware\Figurines”. Marvellous collector’s Italian 24ct gold speckled glass figurine. In perfect condition Please browse all photographs for size & condition as they are self explanatory. Murano glass is glass made on the Venetian island of Murano, which has specialized in fancy glasswares for centuries. Murano’s glassmakers led Europe for centuries, developing or refining many technologies including crystalline glass, enamelled glass (smalto), glass with threads of gold (aventurine), multicolored glass (millefiori), milk glass (lattimo), and imitation gemstones made of glass. Today, the artisans of Murano are still employing these centuries-old techniques, crafting everything from contemporary art glass and glass figurines to Murano glass chandeliers and wine stoppers, as well as tourist souvenirs.
