THE FRAME IS IN THE “MORLAND” DESIGN, NAMED AFTER THE LATE C18th GEORGIAN ARTIST GEORGE MORLAND, WITH MOULDED CORNER RIBBONS AND A MOULDED CROSS RIBBON TO EACH OUTER MID-SECTION. THE FRAME HAS A DEEP HOLLOW PROFILE WITH LOVELY MOULDED LAMB’S TONGUE SIGHT EDGE AND RAISED OUTDER EDGE. THE GILDING IS ORIGINAL WITH BEAUTIFUL LIGHT PATINATION & GENTLE WEAR SO THAT THE RED BOLE BENEATH IS JUST SHOWING THROUGH TO THE MOULDED HIGH POINTS. THE SIDE EDGES ARE SHAPED & CARVED AND ALSO RETAIN THEIR ORIGINAL GILDED FINISH AGAIN WITH LOVELY LIGHT PATINATION & GENTLE WEAR. THE FRAME RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL HAND MADE WAVY GLASS (SO MUCH MORE INKEEPING THAN MODERN GLASS) AND HAND MADE TACKS. THE HANGING RINGS AND BACKBOARD ARE MODERN REPLACEMENTS. C1830 RARE Early American Mahogany Veneer Double Silhouette Miniature Folk Frame

This is an excellent early American double silhouette/miniature frame. Made with veneered mahogany over pine this little frame has great patina. A skilled craftsman carefully lap jointed the corners and dovetailed each side into the middle support. Early wire hanger, rippled glass and hand chamfered backboards. Measures 6 x 9 1/8 with a 3 7/8 x 5 rabbet for each section. Beautiful little early American frame with great proportions. Please see my other listings for some great frames i have recently listed. RARE Antique Primitive Early American Folk Tramp Art Heart Wood Picture Frame

Very unusual and rare piece of Early American history! This tramp art frame is a great piece of folk art, with wooden hearts on each corner and splayed wooden pieces coming out from each side of the frame, each one hand carved. It is pretty deep, so it could have originally been used as a shadow box for a mourning wreath or something else. Hangs horizontally, but could be changed to hang vertically. Measurements: 17″ tall x 20″ wide x 2 deep. Inside of frame: 9.5″ x 6.5″. Condition: In as found condition. Will need a back, wire, and glass for framing. Also, missing half of one of the hearts. One of the pieces on the sides moves and it may be missing a decorative piece on the side, hard to tell. For its age, it is actually in pretty decent shape. Very Rare Early 19th C. INDIAN EXPORT PATNA Painting w/ Original Frame c. INDIAN EXPORT PATNA Painting w/ Original Frame , circa 1820. FREE PICK-UP IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA. Up for your consideration is a rare early 19th C. Indian Patna painting, c. Patna School of Painting. Is a style of Indian Painting, which existed in Bihar, India. In the 18th and 19th centuries. These are artistically unique in that this. Was the world’s first independent schools of painting which dealt exclusively with the commoner and his lifestyle. The painting is possibly painted on stretched animal skin, and is gouache, with some gold highlights. The frame is original, and made of black (and cinnabar on the back) lacquered wood that has been meticulously hand-decorated in gold. The artwork measures 12.75″ x 8.5″, and the outer dimensions of the frame are 18.5″ x 14.25″. The painting is in excellent condition, free of chips, cracks, or paint loss. The frame shows moderate wear to the corners and raised portions, and the gold in the inner beveled strip, just below the painting shows substantial wear from dusting over the last two centuries.
