A very pretty Derby porcelain baluster shape cream jug with convex fluted walls and raised flared spout. A very elegant strap handle with upward curved thumb rest and scrolled lower terminal. Delicately hand painted in bright pastel enamels with floral sprays and finished with a red-brown enamel rim. It measures 10.3cm (4 1/8″) high, 7cm (2 3/4″) wide and 8cm (3 1/8) front to back. In excellent condition; there is a very small chip to the spout.
Antique Rare c1790 Georgian Derby Ikat Wiggle. Band Teacup Saucer Gilt Foliate Rim. An exceptionally rare and visually striking late Georgian Derby porcelain teacup and saucer dating to circa 1790, decorated in a remarkably modern geometric band pattern enriched with finely painted gilt foliate borders. Elegant, experimental and surprisingly contemporary in appearance, the service stands as a fascinating example of the bold decorative innovation emerging within the finest English porcelain factories during the closing decades of the 18th century. While floral decoration and repeating patterned borders dominated fashionable Georgian tea wares of the period, this example displays an unusually abstract interpretation of those prevailing tastes. Rather than employing conventional sprigging or dense botanical reserves, the decorator has created a vibrant rhythmic border composed of rapidly brushed multicoloured dash motifs in vivid cobalt blue, emerald green, iron red and soft puce tones. The effect is almost kinetic in appearance, producing a striking sense of movement around the otherwise restrained white ground. What makes the pattern especially compelling is how unexpectedly modern it feels for the 1790 period. The repeated geometric brushwork possesses an almost proto-Regency or even early modernist aesthetic, recalling textile ikat patterns or abstract painted ornament more commonly associated with much later decorative movements. Yet despite this visual boldness, the overall composition remains refined and balanced within the elegant neoclassical sensibilities of late Georgian Derby porcelain. The interior is further enriched with delicate hand-painted blue dot garlands and a lavishly tooled gilt foliate rim executed to an exceptionally high standard. The fine gilding beautifully frames the vivid geometric decoration while adding the luxurious brilliance expected of quality Derby wares intended for elite fashionable tea tables. The cup itself is beautifully potted with thin translucent walls, a refined footrim and an elegant loop handle characteristic of the finest Derby production of the late 18th century. The underside retains the puce Derby factory mark beneath a crown and crossed batons together with painted pattern number “77”, fully consistent with the factory’s period output before the formal later “Royal Derby” designation. Examples of Derby porcelain featuring such unusual abstract geometric ornament are genuinely scarce today, particularly surviving as matching cup and saucer combinations. The rarity of the pattern, combined with its unexpectedly forward-looking visual character, makes this an especially appealing piece both for collectors of early English porcelain and for those drawn to historically important decorative design. A highly distinctive and intellectually fascinating survivor of late Georgian taste, combining technical refinement, daring decoration and exceptional display presence. Honest age-related wear and minor imperfections entirely consistent with authentic 18th-century porcelain. Cup W 9.5cm, H 5cm, Saucer 13cm.
A beautiful early Derby porcelain model of a standing ewe grazing. Stood on a naturalistic moulded base, lightly washed in green enamel and decorated with small leaf arrangements. A central support is disguised as a tree trunk. The ewe, very finely modelled and delicately decorated. Provenance: The Dennis G. It measures 7cm (2 3/4″) high, 10.3cm (4 1/8″) long and 5.5cm (2 1/8) wide. Condition is very good. There are two chips on the under edge of the base and another to the reverse. There are small losses to the tips of the ears and a fine hairline across she back left leg.

Made By : Stevenson and Hancock (early Royal Crown Derby). It is a beautiful miniature tea set comprising of. That measures 3½” inches high x 5″ inches from handle to spout. That measures 2¼ inches high. That measures 1¾” inches high with a top diameter of 3″ inches. This really is a wonderful antique set. It is in very good condition, I would say it has been kept in a cabinet for most of it’s existence. The only very minor flaws I can see are small piece blue missing on one of the flowers on the teapot. And a very very small chip on the run of the cream jug, but when on display these flaws cannot be seen and that is it. It is fully backstamped on the bases of all three pieces.
A fine example of a Georgian Derby plate circa 1825. Polychrome colours – three large bouquets of flowers – very bright happy palette. Heavy gold dentil border. Crown above crossed swords mark.
