A beautiful early Derby porcelain model of a standing ewe grazing. Stood on a naturalistic moulded base, lightly washed in green enamel and decorated with small leaf arrangements. A central support is disguised as a tree trunk. The ewe, very finely modelled and delicately decorated. Provenance: The Dennis G. It measures 7cm (2 3/4″) high, 10.3cm (4 1/8″) long and 5.5cm (2 1/8) wide. Condition is very good. There are two chips on the under edge of the base and another to the reverse. There are small losses to the tips of the ears and a fine hairline across she back left leg.
A pretty Derby porcelain baluster shape cream jug with convex fluted walls, raised flared spout and strap handle with vertical kick thumb rest. Finely painted in pastel enamels with floral sprays and finished with a red-brown enamel rim. It measures 10.3cm (4 1/8″) high, 7cm (2 3/4″) wide and 8cm (3 1/8) front to back.
Made By : Stevenson and Hancock (early Royal Crown Derby). It is a beautiful miniature tea set comprising of. That measures 3½” inches high x 5″ inches from handle to spout. That measures 2¼ inches high. That measures 1¾” inches high with a top diameter of 3″ inches. This really is a wonderful antique set. It is in very good condition, I would say it has been kept in a cabinet for most of it’s existence. The only very minor flaws I can see are small piece blue missing on one of the flowers on the teapot. And a very very small chip on the run of the cream jug, but when on display these flaws cannot be seen and that is it. It is fully backstamped on the bases of all three pieces.
A fine example of a Georgian Derby plate circa 1825. Polychrome colours – three large bouquets of flowers – very bright happy palette. Heavy gold dentil border. Crown above crossed swords mark. Modelled as a young woman standing balancing against a tree, the young man seated at her feet fitting a red color shoe on her left foot resting over his knee, further shoes by his side, on an irregular shaped base with applied leaves and flowers. The figurine adorned with rich enamel painting. The drawn clothing of the characters stands out, especially the woman’s dress which carefully drawn with floral design and each flower is painted in detail. The characters are painted in complementary dark blue colors, accentuated by rich gilding. Perhaps the woman’s posture expresses a sense of embarrassment. On base painted factory marks in red which confirms the stated date of manufacture of this fine and rare Derby figurine and incised pattern? 78. Height 19 cm, Weight 607 grams. Missing tips of two fingers on the girl’s left hand, small chips to the red shoe standing on the ground, overpainted wrist on the girl’s right hand, small chips to the leaves, minimal paint and gilding loss. Beautifully modelled and hand painted figurine made in Derby in the early 19th century. Quite typical of Derby at this time. A lady is seated on a chair with a delicately pierced back, holding a purple, gold-trimmed towel over her shoulders and a mirror in her other hand. A man stands beside her, dressing her hair, a hat and a pair of scissors on the irregular plinth beside her. The barber wears a long cobalt blue coat with gold pattern and a waistcoat with gold buttons. The lady wears a detailed painted dress in deep blue and gold. The base is typical of the period with some greenery and applied flowers. This group of Derby hairdressers, painted in shades of green, red and cobalt, is set on a raised rococo plinth with rich gilding. The figure is richly enamelled. The base is painted with the factory crown mark in red, confirming the date of manufacture of this fine and rare Derby figure and the incised pattern? 84. As mentioned by John Twitchett in his book’Derby Porcelain’, such a figure was exhibited in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London. Height 19cm, Weight 605g. Condition – minor losses to enamel and gilding, small chips to the plant leaves. There were scissors in the hands of the hairdresser – they are not there now. Otherwise excellent antique condition.
