For sale here is an extremely rare 17th Century Memento Mori silver and gold gilt ring. This particular ring was part of an ex private European collection, acquired in the 1980s. I have done a lot of research on this wonderful historic ring, including its market value, This is a known and extremely rare example. And a true museum worthy piece. As well as historically important ring. This example can be dated accurately to the early 1600s. The ring still has traces of its original gold gilding over solid sliver. What I love about this piece is how wonderfully illustrated the skull is, and so typical of the period, unlike anything we see today, and far nicer than many I’ve seen in major museums. The inscription reads (BEHOLD THE ENDE) A really wonderful ring, and unique part of history, and served to always remind its wearer that one day, we all must die. Ring measures (UK P) (US 8.5) and weighs 5.6 grams. Ring will also come with the box pictured. This ring would take pride of place in any private collectors collection or museum. This item is not for sale to members with negative or no feedback! This item is in the category “Jewellery & Watches\Vintage & Antique Jewellery\Rings”. The seller is “stylishclassics21″ and is located in this country: GB. This item can be shipped to United Kingdom.
Please feel free to make an offer. I believe this is a Large Early 17th Century Unusual & Rare Antique Key, but please do your own research. It has a great shape, quality & a very tactile & a nice item. It is handmade & not hollow but of solid construction. In expected condition for an item of this age & nature. The opening mechanism is very elaborate. You can also see historical wear marks on the shaft from the door plates. Approx just over 7 1/2 in total length & weights approx 194 grams. It’s shaft is slightly tampered & turning handle is quite elaborate. I’d expect it was for a Castle door or certainly a prestigious building of some sort. Please study the images as they also form part of the description & please do your own research. This item is in the category “Antiques\Architectural Antiques\Locks, Latches & Keys”. A large deep bowl featuring a plain exterior and an unusual tripodal feature alongside a foot. The interior is beautifully coloured and decorated around a central bust of a youth amongst foliage. The rim decorated with cartouches of a fish scale motif and possibly calligraphy. This is 17th Century and shows its age so please check the photos carefully. This has been heavily damaged and shows large cracks, repairs and restorations including recolouring and filling in (not the best restorations in my opinion). Also included are chips to the rim and glaze, scratches, crazing and wear, and discolourations. The paint work isn’t crisp, the edges have bled. I also have a second very similar bowl in another listing. This item is in the category “Antiques\Asian/Oriental Antiques\Islamic/Middle Eastern”.
