Antique Weidlich Bros Rococo Art Nouveau Silverplate Candlestick, Lg Heavy, Rare

A luminous, swirling statement piece of an Art Nouveau silverplate candlestick by Weidlich Brothers of Bridgeport, Connecticut, from the 1920s-30s. This is Model 2261, a true rarity. It’s a heavy, large piece, 10.75″ tall, 5.75″ wide, weighing over two pounds. It retains a brilliant polished mirror shine. The candlestick is draped in sweeping Rococo Revival scrollwork, acanthus leaves and shell motifs in fluid Art Nouveau style. Use it as a focal point on an occasional table, vanity, or entry console. On a dining table or sideboard, center it in a grouping with a planter and fruit bowl or candy dish. Its size would hold up well to a glass hurricane shade for a taper or large peg cup for a votive candle. It’s in good antique condition. While the finish has numerous scratches, the lacquered coating over WB’s extra-thick silverplate has protected it from much tarnish, so it’s ready to display.
