Dating to the early 1800s, this is one of the most spectacular and elegant small teapots you will ever find. This is the only teapot with a rim that sweeps up towards the spout and handle. The teapot is thin walled and was designed and molded by a master potter and has a finely detailed molded basket weave pattern extending around the body and lid. The lid has a small oval handle and a hole to vent steam and aid in pouring. Measuring 4 ¼ to the top of the finial by 7 ½ wide from the spout to handle, the teapot is in original mint condition with no damage or repairs. The teapot is not signed, but the design is similar to known Wedgwood teapots. This teapot does not appear in any of the books on yellow ware and looks even better in person than as shown in the photos. If you are a serious collector, this is one of the finest small teapots you could own. The beads are phenomenal and this is one of the best examples I have ever seen of this type of work. The strap is also very well made and features the same zigzag pattern that goes around the top of the bottle. Tour de force and a welcome addition to any collection. 21.5 width 9.8 cm.
