RARE & QUITE EARLY WILLIAM GODWIN GOTHIC REVIVAL TILE after A. THIS IS A LOVELY QUITE RARE GOTHIC REVIVAL ENCAUSTIC TILE MADE AT THE WILLIAM GODWIN FACTORY LUGWARDINE, HEREFORD IN, I WOULD GUESS 1850’s/60’s AFTER THE MEDIEVEALIST WORK OF AGUSTUS WELBY NORTHMORE PUGIN. IT IS DEPICTED IN A TWO COLOUR (YELLOW OCHRE ON RED OCHRE) ENCAUSTIC GLAZE WITH STYLISED FLOWER HEADS INSIDE ENTWINED ROUNDELS IN THE GOTHIC TASTE. ONE THING SHOULD BE MENTIONED IS ITS THICKNESS (A LITTLE OVER 1 [2.5cm]) WHICH I WOULD GUESS INDICATES IT IS A FLOOR TILE RATHER THAN A WALL VARIETY. THE REVERSE HAS THE MENTIONED DOUBLE’W. GODWIN’ MARK – SEE PHOTOGRAPHS AND DETAILS. IT MEASURES 6 (15.25cm) Sq. APPROX; AND IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION FOR A TILE OF ITS TYPE AND AGE, ALTHOUGH THERE IS SOME LIGHT FRITTING TO ITS EDGE APART FROM THIS IT LOOKS TO BE IN EXCELLENT SHAPE (ALTHOUGH IT DOES NEED A CLEAN) – AGAIN SEE PHOTOGRAPHS AND DETAILS. T his listing is for an Antique Original James Hamilton & Company salt glazed stoneware 1 gallon crock. This crock was made around the 1860s and it is in mint condition. It measures roughly 8 tall and 4 3/4 across the top from outside to outside. You can see by the markings that this is an early Company piece, and hopefully you can tell by all the close up pictures that this is an excellent piece of stoneware. Its a perfect size to display most anywhere. You rarely find early salt glazed crocks from this company in such good condition so dont let this one pass you by! Please keep in mind that almost all of my items are used and/or vintage items from estate sales, flea markets, auctions, or picks in the South East part of the US. A majority of the items I sell are lightly cleaned. A few items I sell just as I found them; Either case, they may have minor surface dents, scratches, or dings. A very pretty rare Belgium? Solid silver snuff box. It has been beautifully engraved with flowers and scrolls. The inside has been gilded. It is in super condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs. It measures 1.5 inches (3.6cms) long by 1 inch (2.6cms) wide by 5/8th of an inch (1.5cms) tall and weighs 15 grams.
