George was known for designing furniture that was both innovative in construction and significant in design. His designs were daring and modernist for the time. This bedroom chair is typical of his designs from the 1860s-1870s, its profile looks more like a scientific instrument than the bones of a chair. The upholstery is structurally very stable, no holes or thinning areas but it does have some colour fading, most notable on the seat. The ebonised finish has typical scuffs and knocks.
1820 Holy Bible printed in New York by Daniel D. Smith printed a handful of follow up editions after this one, but first editions are quite rare. Original leather binding shows some wear, but overall solid and attractive. Some splits starting and some weakening to front hinge, but still solid despite the fact. Overall much better condition than most early American Bibles of this time period. Measures about 11″ x 9.25″ and about 2.25 thick. The majority of books I list are 150+ years old. Early Rare Antique Wooden Cigar Stacking Rack From York, PA Primitive. This Antique cigar rack is a piece of early tobaccona made in the USA when cigars were still rolled here in the USA. Not sure exactly of its vintage but looks to be late 1800s to early 1900s. Its painted brown and has a wall hanging hook on the back. Maybe it was used to keep count of the cigars or to dry them. There is a sticker on the back stating what it is and where its from but no actual vintage date. It looks handmade and put together with small iron nails, showing some patina but in very good condition for its age. It stands about 8.5″ tall x 20″ wide x 5 deep.
