Thank You For Visting Fox Run Farms Antiques! Also be sure to check out our other listings this week for more examples of period metalware and antique country furnishings! This 18th century blacksmith made wrought iron candlestick is of European original origin; French or English, and brought over to America by immigrants. This was another great example of early lighting we have acquired from a collector who specialized in lighting and had assembled his collection decades ago. As you can see the piece has an adustable mechanism to the formation of the candle shaft, allowing the user to raise up the candle via the curled tabbed slider. Has a wonderful tri-legged design underneath a circular “up turned” drip pan. Retains the original top hook that would allow the piece to be transported or hung off the back of a chair when not placed atop a table. Some pitting expected for age. Candleshaft has a very slight tilt to it. All signs of age point to usage and expected wear from age. Stands approx 7 3/4 tall. Note the square nut and slightly out of round rivet to the bottom construction. Again a rare example thats been in a private collection for decades and fresh to market for the appreciator of fine lighting and early iron. Thanks for visiting us here at FoxRun-Farms!
