RARE EARLY 20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE ART NOUVEAU’PEACOCK’ DESIGN, HAND. Early 20th century antique Art Nouveau hand-blown, decorated art glass. 9″ Height x 3 ½” Width x 1 Rim Diameter. A true period, authentic, original Art Nouveau piece of hand-blown, tooled art glass, with pontil mark (scar) on the base plate. It features plastic, very physical, variegated, raised surfaces, with flowing fern-like, organic forms, that at once resemble and remind one of flowing seaweed in the underwater currents of the sea or the leaves of ferns, softly moving in the breeze underneath a forest of tall, protective conifers. The vase has a natural, hand-blown, asymmetrical organic form, that impresses with its nearly frozen liquid state. This is an extraordinary piece of antique, period Art Nouveau glass that is not interrupted by hairline cracks, flea-bites, abrasions or scuffs on the edge of its fluted top or on its exterior sidewalls. It has magnificent, semi-transparent to semi-opaque, translucent surfaces, which showcase putty white, olive and creams set against a gorgeous semi-transparent, rich cobalt blue of the glass body of the vase. This is one killer piece of Art Nouveau period, antique glass. Not a more recent facsimile but the real deal. Found on the North Shore of Massachusetts and estate fresh. It was previously covered with dust and sediment and only very carefully cleaned with baby shampoo and tepid water and then gently dried with a soft cotton towel. Amazing figuration, color and surfaces make this a superlative, unforgettable piece of hand-blown period glass. Very Good to Excellent overall antique condition. Straight from a Massachusetts doctor’s personal collection to you is this just absolutely fantastic, and you don’t have to love and appreciate antique and vintage Ame ri can advertising to see that this early 20th century Vaseline Preparations color lithographed enamel tin upright early mercantile store display, with various color product tubes pictured on the front door of the case, is one big, bad, lean and mean piece of Ame ri can early advertising. Extremely rare and with few ever available on the market quite like it, this nearly, if not 100 year-old tin store display, is a highly coveted and exceptionally scarce Ame ri can mercantile artifact. The Ame ri can company Vaseline, which was growing quickly in popularity throughout the Unit ed St ates, introduced various additional products in addition to its core moisturizing and anti-inflammatory petrolatum based ointments, such as the various tubed products, captured in color lithography over a faux wood lithographed enamel, upright tin case. It still has one red and orange cardboard carton box containing a lead tube holding Carbolated Petroleum Jelly. A few minor surface scuffs, a few shallow dings and some minor abrasions to its surface, only slightly mar what’s otherwise an absolutely wonderful and remarkably well-preserved, early 20th century Ame ri can antique lithographed tin enamel Vaseline Preparations upright store display brought to you by the Chesebrough Manufacturing Company, based in New York, Montreal, London and Copenhagen. RARE EARLY 20TH CENTURY VINTAGE AME RI CAN FOLK/TRAMP ART HAND CARVED & HAND PAINTED WOODEN KINETIC FIGURATIVE SCULPTURE OF SUITED PATRICIAN GENTLEMAN, W/TOP HAT AND HIDDEN, HINGED ERECT PHALLUS UNDER OV E R C OAT. Early 20th century Ame ri can hand carved & hand painted wooden, sexualized figurative gag toys. 6″- 7″ overall Height (outstretched) and with hinged, weighted’male member’ exposed x 2″ Width x 1″ Depth. For sale is this killer, absolutely wonderful early 20th century Ame ri can vintage Folk art/Tramp art hand carved and hand painted kinetic wooden gag light sculpture of a patrician gentleman, wearing a tuxedo, high top hat and bow tie, properly dressed in a white shirt and sporting a chained eyepiece over one eye. He’s the apparent epitome of the upper crust, well-groomed and well behaved. But surprise, surprise, when the bottom two legs of this bespeckled industrialist or wealthy banking executive are pulled down, out’pops the weasel’ or in more sober and accurately descriptive terms, out comes his hinged white and red painted male phallus, reminding us how his naughty, real and hidden demeanor contradicts the pomp and circumstance of his gentlemanly attire. The male phallus is weighted on one end so that when the legs are pulled down and away from the base of the figure, the hinged phallus shockingly pops up and rudely greets the viewer with a somewhat abrupt, hardly anticipated stage appearance. With the bawdy humor of the early 20th century, it seems culturally grotesque and clearly not politically correct. It is regardless of contemporary cultural considerations, by any measure, terrific. Not only are these early 20th century antique Weller Ame ri can Arts & Crafts hand decorated ceramic’frog bowls’ hard to find, but to encounter one in this kind of extremely well-preserved condition, is well, almost simply too much to ask. A plaything and personal artifact of the gods. Gorgeous and an exquisite, nearly unparalleled antique Weller piece of Ame ri can Arts & Crafts ceramic art. Incredible glaze, figuration and surfaces make this a memorable, extraordinary work of antique Ame ri can ceramic art. One magnificent, killer bowl. Clearly signed on the base plate with a black ink Weller Pottery maker’s mark stamp. The small episode of bone white ceramic glaze loss on the base plate to the right and top of the Weller Pottery black ink stamp, is the only noticeable, fairly significant instance of appreciable damage to the dish. No attempt has been made to rectify or to correct this condition issue or to professionally restore this affected area. We decided to leave it exactly as we found it where it was discovered in the South Shore Massachusetts estate where it had been, largely undisturbed and perhaps forgotten, for years and years, apparently with only one previous owner. RARE CHINESE EARLY 20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE HAND DECORATED CELADON (MILKY JADE GREEN) CYLINDRICAL TABLE LAMP, W/HAND PAINTED DEER FIGURES/ FAUNA HIEROGLYPHS, IN SEPIA GLAZE, RETICULATED ROSEWOOD BASES & ORIGINAL’S’ SHAPED UPPER ELECTRICAL BULB ASSEMBLY 1 OF 2, CONSTITUTING. Early 20th century Chinese ceramic table lamps. 33″ full Height x 16″ ceramic Height x. 5 ½” Width x 6″ Square base. The brass finial is slightly loose (appearing to be the case when originally assembled). The pictured shade is not included with the table lamp. This is the first of a pair of two nearly identical table lamps that were found in the same estate and which were located on each side of the same sideboard. Amazing hand decorated deer hieroglyphs and beautiful celadon glaze, with reticulated rosewood bases and early brass’S’ form double bulb electrical upper assembly, make this a stunning and extremely decorative and visually pleasing early 20th century Chinese table lamp. They are being offered individually but constitute a natural, original pair and are not a’matched’ pair. Why would anything so beautiful need any? Top shelf, estate fresh and the real deal. The upper cylindrical celadon glazed and hand decorated wheel thrown ceramic tubular body, is also largely free from any superficial or structural damage, with no flea-bites, hairline cracks or stains anywhere on them. The original,’S’ shaped, double bulb, upper electrical bulb assembly, ascending brass stem, harp and finial are all original to the table lamp and are in excellent condition. The table lamp is in working order, with its original electrical wiring, assembly and plug. It does not come with a shade, nor with the one pictured in the listing. RARE EARLY 20TH CENTURY VINTAGE WELCH’S GRAPE JUICE WOODEN BOX CRATE, W / RED & BLACK INK STAMPED SIDEWALL GRAPHIC ICONOGRAPHY & FINGER-JOINED CORNERS, WESTFIELD, NY. American vintage early mercantile advertising. Originally Contained (24 Pints). 19″ Width x 8″ Height x 14 Depth. In simply outstanding overall antique condition, with red and ink stamped graphic iconography on all four sidewalls. It has finger-joined corners and features all wood construction and a wood plank floor. With absolutely wonderful black and red ink stamped period typography, that is still clear and crisp, this is a fabulous early 20th century advertising wood box crate, produced by the famous American food and juice company out of Westfield, New York, the Welch’s Grape Juice Company the national drink. Produced somewhere after the turn of the century, between 1900 and 1920, this is an earlier, older American wood box crate, which is a great example of early American mercantile advertising. The box crate doesn’t suffer from any real, noticeable depreciation of its ink stamped sidewall typography and it also doesn’t suffer from any depreciating stains, wood loss, corner loss, fractures, board loss, flea bites to its edges, dry or wet rot. This is simply a gorgeous box. It won”t disappoint. Very Good to Excellent overall vintage condition. RARE EARLY 20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE’AUNT JEMIMA’ BLACK AME RIC ANA MONUMENTAL UPRIGHT CAST IRON DOORSTOP W/ORIGINAL. Late 19th-early 20th century figurative cast iron doorstops. 13″ Height x 8″ Width 3 ¼ Depth. Offered is this superb and one of the very best late 19th to early 20th century antique Ame ri can hand painted cast iron Aunt Jemima monumental doorstops at least I have ever seen. What makes it special is not only its very large, even monumental size at 13 inches in height, but the wonderful sculptural features that remain crisp and clear and not obscured by later enamel paint, which almost always buries the figurative details of the form in the viscous, thick enamel oil paint. This monumental doorstop now reads as pure Ame ri can folk art sculpture, with its original painted surfaces and remains unbastardized, untouched and undisturbed. That and that alone is enough to make this piece of turn-of- the-century Black Americana interesting enough, never mind the exemplary and extraordinary original painted surfaces. Without any demonstrable flea-bites to its edges, deep abrasions, dents or dings and really without any other kind of deformities that a drop or serious tumble might have caused. It’s nearly flawless and only shows the normal depreciating effects of time. It was discovered on the South Shore of Massachusetts and is estate-fresh and fresh to the marketplace, never having been seen outside of the home where it was found. Not only an extraordinary Ame ri can antique but an extraordinary Ame ri can cultural artifact. Very rare in this kind of well-preserved, untouched, unadulterated original condition.
