From my parent’s estate. They collected antiques including unusual pieces and silver. This particular piece is an early Victorian Hand Mirror 4 1/2″ long and 1 7/8″ wide. I do not know what kind of metal it is – looks like pewter to me but it is not indicated in their notes. A cameo medallion bust of the Roman god Mercury (god of commerce and financial gain, also Roman messenger god) is on the back side of the mirror with ornate and delicate handle. You can see that the mirror has a flaw in it (streaks and a mark inside the glass – see photos) but you can still see your face in it. Also see bottom of the handle. I don’t have much more information other than what was left in their notes. It really is a nice piece – 44.6g of metal and mirror, and a charming conversation piece. I can imagine a Victorian lady having this in her purse to check on her appearance at a ball or spy on someone behind her….. The detail in the cameo is quite good. I have done nothing to clean it. This piece is very nice and should be loved and displayed.

Up for sale is a Rare Vintage Antique pair of Early Victorian Silver Hand Craved Lava Putti Cufflinks. They measure approx: 1″ x 7/8″ and are 3-dimensional. Very good antique condition with the note that one link has a carving flaw, the nose of one Putti. It was chipped in carving for the nostril is complete but just flattened. There was a piece of fuzz on the cross in photo is not a flaw on the cross itself the reverse of the cross is plain and can be worn both ways, over a high collar and vest is lovely if you choose, love this piece!!! About 18″ chain area plus about 4″ drop. Quarter coin just for your size judgement, due to our storage system we cannot include boxes or backgrounds.

According to Portuguese sources, the company was founded in 1859 by a French watchmaker, and it became one of the most important watch shops in Lisbon’s Baixa district (the downtown area). The firm apparently closed around 2013, but for more than 150 years it was a known establishment in Lisbon. CASE AND MOVEMENT IN VERY GOOD CONDITIONS. CASE :STEEL CASE OF THE YEAR 1900, AND IN USED CONDITION, SEE PHOTO. THE POCKET WATCH IS HOUSED IN A GOOD THICK GAUGE TRADITIONAL STYLE CASE, ALL COVERS OPENING AND CLOSING CORRECTLY, DUST COVER IS ALSO STEEL – 29 mm DIAMETER, 10 mm THICK, EARLY ANTIQUE SEMI FULL HUNTER CROWN WIND AND PIN SET. MOVEMENT : PIN SET, THE FIRST CROWN LEVER TYPE POCKET WATCH, WHICH IS IN VERY GOOD OVERALL CONDITION. KEEPING VERY GOOD TIME. HAND REGULATOR IS SHORT THAN USUAL. VERY GOOD QUALITY FULLY WORKING EARLY SWISS MOVEMENT AND IT’S ORIGINAL UNUSUAL EARLY COMPENSATED BALANCE WHEEL. THE CASE DIAL & MOVEMENT ALL ORIGINAL. OFFERED TODAY IS THIS SILVER PLATED BEAUTIFUL CIRCA LATE GEORGIAN/ EARLY VICTORIAN HINGED LID LADY’S DESK TOP INK STAND WITH LOVELY LION MASK HANDLES AND SET UPON BUN FEET. COMPLETE WITH ITS ORIGINAL GLASS INKWELLS AND SPONGE COMPARTMENT WITH LID. Some light wear to plating in places. Hinges for lid very good. Glass on inkwells no chips. Small hole at the side of one foot (underneath) which looks to be intentional. A few light dings to the main body but in good condition for its age. Approx length= 20 cms. Approx width= 9.5 cms.
