Perfect Christmas present or gift for a serious collector. Lovely antique French blue glass scent bottle with ormolu decoration, adorned with painted plaque. I believe would have been bought as a Grand Tour souvenir. Stunning quality item in excellent condition. 10.7 cm tall. IN VERY NICE CONDITION DESPITE ITS 142YEARS OF AGE & USE SHOWING very MINOR WEAR, BOTH The bottle and stopper ARE IN PERFECT UNDAMAGED CONDITION. PERFECT FOR THE SERIOUS COLLECTOR. This would make a stunning present gift. THERE ARE SOME very LIGHT SCRATCHES TO THE GLASS BUT NO CRACKS or chips. THE “FLIP TOP” MECHANISM IS IN FULL WORKING ORDER AS IS THE PERFECT RARE GLASS STOPPER. The polished Pontil mark at the base is a great way to tell it’s early age. I have approximately 300 antique perfume bottles which I have taken many years collecting. (see a few in picture 11). I have also included a picture of part of my 750 strong collection of Sampson Mordan in picture 12. Obviously these are not included in the price of this item, just for reference. If you want spotless then the high street is for you, but if you want a great antique that will appreciate in price with age then this is for you. You don’t get this by messing people about. Rare Early 1800s French Opaline and Eglomise Grand Tour Souvenir, Small Basket, 2 Architectural Views of Paris. All items and photos are the express property of Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. We’ve just bought the collection of a longtime good customer, and will have 31 pieces in all listing soon. The term, “eglomise” refers to a decorative technique of painting on the backside of glass. These are each little works of art. The collection varies from c. Will describe each as listed. This is an early one, a rare purplish-white opaline glass, an ormolu cased bonbon basket with 2 lift-up lids, each with their own mother of pearl-accented 1 1/8 round architectural paintings. The two scenes are le Odelisk and Napoleon’s Triumphal Arch in front of the Louvre. Photos show the fine details, condition, measurements. Very good to excellent condtion throughout for age and type. No chips or flaws on the old early 1800s opaline glass, and no dents or losses on the intricate ormolu. The lids are not made with clasps, each side rises like a basket’s sides. And the center hinge is a pin-hinge, both sides connecting but totally functional. Measurements noted on photos. The addition of mother of pearl behind sections of the paintings gives this one shimmer of rainbow at angles of view. We’re easy to deal with. You are very important!
