A lovely silver caddy spoon by Richard Morton Sheffield 1786. This would be one of the earliest silver caddy spoons to be made particularly from a Sheffield silversmith. The spoon is in good order with a fluted shell shaped bowl and plain handle thumb piece. The spoon appears to have made by die stamping or pressing. There thumb piece handle has been lightly monograms with initials in scrolling script. A rare example illustrating the tooling development for caddy spoons in Sheffield with excellent hallmarks in. Size: 8.3 cms approx. Weight: 9 Grams approx. It will be sent within 2 days after receipt of cleared funds. We are proud to be members of LAPADA and CINOA we are governed by their trading rules. Jon Braganza the owner is a silversmith registered at Goldsmiths Hall London and his work in gold and silver will always carry his makers mark.

Rare English Provincial silver Hanoverian spoon Sampson Bennet of Falmouth c1730
A very rare early Georgian silver English Provincial Hanoverian pattern table spoon dating to c1730, made by Sampson Bennett of Falmouth. Struck four times on the stem with his maker’s mark which is illustrated on page 70 of’West Country Silver Spoons and their Makers’ by Timothy Kent, and was registered on June 25. Inscribed’ER 1731′ on the terminal. The back of the bowl with a well-defined rattail, and having a pronounced ridge to the terminal at the front. The spoon is in excellent collector’s condition, having a good colour, the bowl with minimal wear and the marks pretty good for a provincial spoon of this date. Sampson Bennet of Falmouth c1730. I have many stunning pieces of collector’s silver in my shop, please look at my other items. I aim only to list antique silver items that are without damage, repair, alteration or undue wear. My silver pieces are ideal as special gifts, for collectors, for investors, or for resale by dealers. I provide clear descriptions and photos. The silver is photographed in flat natural light, but silver is so reflective that black spots from the camera and other reflections are sometimes unavoidable. Please check the dimensions of the object carefully as apparent size can be deceptive. Bank details provided on request. Sizes, weights etc are all approximate.

Rare Georgian Early Silver Jockey Cap Caddy Spoon Hallmarked 1798 Joseph Taylor
A fine George III early silver caddy spoon in the form of a jockey’s cap with bright cut engraved decoration denoting the stitching, a decorative star to the button on the top and foliate decoration framing a shield cartouche on the brim and further to the underside. It is finished with a shaped engraved “ribbon” at the back. Unusually with full hallmarks under the brim, a very early jockey cap caddy spoon, Birmingham 1798, maker Joseph Taylor. It measures 5cm (2″) long, 4cm (1 9/16″) wide and 1.7cm (5/8) high and weighs 7g. In good condition overall: there are two small splits to the ribbon section at the back. A neat and unobtrusive line of repair to a section of the join with the brim and also to a diagonal across the width of the brim, more clearly seen underneath. A few tiny nick marks to the shield cartouche suggest unsurprisingly an original engraving has been erased. No dents and the engraved detail is nice and crisp and the marks are clear.
