RARE EARLY BYZANTINE LONG IRON SOCKETED ARROWHEAD 500-700 AD. War Relic 15.5 cm
ANCIENT BYZANTINE IRON ARROWHEAD. A rare and collectible early Byzantine iron socketed arrowhead with elongated and narrow profile. It has a compact barbed head. Long neck and relatively light overall construction for its length. The narrow elongated form was practical for penetration and distance rather than broad cutting. The barbs are also relatively restrained. Byzantine and late Roman military arrowheads became progressively slimmer and optimized for mass military use. Much longer than earlier shorter Roman iron arrowheads, this type of war relic is highly sought after. Weight – 24.05 Grams. Size – 15.5×1.3 cm. Originally found in the Balkans.

Very rare a genuine ancient early Iron-Age socketed axehead
From my own collection, a genuine ancient early Iron-Age European socketed axe head. The artefact was heavily rusted and has been carefully cleaned to remove rust/debris and has been treated and stabilized. The early use of iron was first employed into known bronze-age patterns and techniques, hence the first axe heads where socketed.. A rare chance to own one of these rare early iron age artefacts. See picture for condition. Date: circa 500 century BC Size: length apx 125mm For your own benefit, please read the information given below. Ancient artefacts are finite, less are being discovered as time passes, and of course at some point in the future there will be no more. Consequently, investment in antiquities is rising. But, as availability decreases across the whole spectrum of ancient artefacts, investment is proving to be provident and wise, and most of all, for the sheer pleasure of owning a piece of ancient history. We also see modern jewellery items passed off as ancient artefacts by having a false patina applied to them. You will soon be able to see the difference between what a fake and real artefact look like – and what they should look like. We also encourage buyers to ask sellers questions, and if possible have the item you have bought verified that it is actually an ancient artefact. Or go to your local museum where you may find an expert who could identify the item. When we are certain an item is fake, we destroy it, at our own loss, so that fakes cannot re-enter the market. Please view our other items, thank you for looking and good luck. The item “Very rare a genuine ancient early Iron-Age socketed axehead” is in sale since Sunday, July 19, 2020.
