A fine original early 19th Century antique English Georgian blue and white transferware plate from Spode’s perennially popular “Caramanian” Series. This one printed in the “Sarcophagi and Sepulchres at the head of the harbour of Cacamo” pattern. The reverse of the plate has the c1770 impressed makers mark, Spode 9, underglaze and blue printed makers mark X. Condition; Sadly there is damage to the plate (see photo), the actual transfer is incredible still for its age – over 217 years old, It’s an amazing piece of early Spode.
