A rare and striking Kienzle table or mantel clock, designed by Heinrich Möller and produced in Germany circa 1935-36. The clock has the elegant geometric styling associated with both the Art Deco and Bauhaus movements, with a large circular brass surround, raised Arabic numerals, distinctive ring-form hour hand, long tapered minute hand, convex glass and stepped black plinth. A particularly impressive decorative clock with real presence. Approximate dimensions: Height: 25 cm Width: 23 cm MOVEMENT AND WORKING CONDITION The clock would originally have been fitted with a Kienzle eight-day mechanical movement. At some point in its life, this was replaced with a later vintage Kienzle 1.5V electromechanical movement powered by a D battery. The replacement mechanism is itself Kienzle-branded and vintage, rather than a modern quartz conversion. It has been tested with a fresh 1.5V D battery but does not continue running. When the clock is gently tilted or moved, the balance mechanism ticks for approximately three seconds before stopping. No further investigation or repair has been attempted. COSMETIC CONDITION The clock displays extremely well but naturally shows age-related patina, tarnishing, marks and wear. The number 3 appears to been glued back on at some point. Although the original movement is no longer present, the clock remains an authentic and increasingly difficult-to-find example of Heinrich Möller’s celebrated work for Kienzle. Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.

Brass and painted case with glass dome. Astral and zodiac dial. Automation clock in the arched dial. Brass bezel with bevelled glass with enamel dial. German 400-day spring driven movement. Measures 29cm high by 14cm wide & 14cm deep dial is 8cm in diameter. Fantastic rare torsion clock with automation on brass and painted base with original glass dome dust cover. Very large “French Decorative Art” dial of 22 centimeters (8.7 inches), its mechanical movement reconditioned by the watchmaker and replaced by a battery-powered movement, resulting in a clear precision of the time. The Elephant with the trunk in the air, which is a lucky symbol. The dimensions of the Elephant are: Height 26 cms (10.3 inches). And its Length: 24 cms (9.5 inches). Dimension of the marble terrace: 45 centimeters x 30 centimeters (17.7 inches x 11.8 inches). Total weight: 7,040 kilograms (249 ounces). This listing is for an antique Ansonia mantel clock. This rare clock is referred to as a “swinger” or a “mystery” clock. This one is an early “tin can” model. This clock is composed of a statue of a woman and a clock that sways back and forth in her hand. The clock appears to be in overall good condition. We got it professionally tuned up and had the suspension repaired in August of this year. It ran when tested. Notes indicate that the colors on the statue were touched up in 2010. The repairman informed us that this is an Ansonia and that many of these mystery/swinger clock movements are not stamped with the Ansonia logo.
