Unbelievably cool old lock in good working condition. It does turn a bit tight but go slowly and gently and it opens right up. Crude construction suggests very early age, I might even be of by a couple hundred years.

Unusual Reclaimed Early Type antique Victorian Universal (double handed) Rim Lock, never even seen or had one of this type before and we can’t find any information or other examples. Fully working condition, please note diagonal spindle, suitable for round knobs or knobs made with a diagonal spindle fitting. Lock 18 cm long x 11 cm high, keep 32 mm wide x 10.7 cm high. Back set, from front of lock to centre of spindle 16 cm, front of lock to centre of key 6.2 cm. Maker B&S (stamped on bolt) possibly Beddows & Sturmey of Willenhall, More information would be of interest. Steel case with brass fittings, replacement Able Fletcher & Sons Key, fully refurbished at some time. Of interest to collectors or to be fitted.
