Amber-colored cylin der-shaped antique patent’quack’ bottle that o riginally contained a HEROIN LACED medicine. This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand B lown I nto M old bottle (BIM) with a tooled top, dating it back to the 1800’s. Bottle embossed : ” Glyco – Heroin /’SMITH’ “. Base of bottle embossed : MARTIN H. / CHEMISTS / NEW YORK. Condition : Bottle has overall wear and stain (patina) from age and use, and it has a shallow surfaced bubble. Overall it is an excellent solid bottle and these is nothing specifically wrong with it. NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. PLEASE see pictures for better idea of overall condition. Age : A ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand-blown bottle (Blown-In-Mold = BIM) with a tooled-top, ca. T hese bottle contained a patent medicine and one of the main ingredients in it was Heroin, Glyico Heroin. Heroin was used over a century ago as an ingredient in cough syrup, to suppress the cough and suppressing the discomfort that is associated with it. Yet it did much more than that as patients came to find out that they kept using the syrup long after the cough was gone. As they say,’Caution, may be habit forming’. To say the least! Heroin is one of the most addictive substances known to mankind. This is one of the very few antique bottles that we know of that actually has the word ” HEROIN ” embossed in the glass which makes it quite appealing. It is not a commonly found bottle and these are getting increasingly hard to f ind , especially in this PRISTINE CLEAN condition, check it out! Rare Pair of Early Regency Spode 967 Pattern English Imari Porcelain Hand Painted Porcelain 8¼ Plates. Round indented edge shape. English imari fence pattern in characteristic imari colors of under-glaze blue & over-glaze orange-red, green & gilt. By hand red Spode 967 near the foot rim. Godden mark #3648b, Written mark with pattern number on earthenware and porcelain, c. Spode pattern 967 is shown on p. 223 of Cushion, Encyclopedia of British Porcelain which notes that the pattern was introduced in 1804. Very attractive clean pair in fine condition but for very small underside edge nick on one of little matter, otherwise no chips, cracks, hairlines. All Items Are Sent Insured. RARE CHINESE EARLY 20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE HAND DECORATED CELADON (MILKY JADE GREEN) CYLINDRICAL TABLE LAMP, W/HAND PAINTED DEER FIGURES/ FAUNA HIEROGLYPHS, IN SEPIA GLAZE, RETICULATED ROSEWOOD BASES & ORIGINAL’S’ SHAPED UPPER ELECTRICAL BULB ASSEMBLY 1 OF 2, CONSTITUTING. Early 20th century Chinese ceramic table lamps. 33″ full Height x 16″ ceramic Height x. 5 ½” Width x 6″ Square base. The brass finial is slightly loose (appearing to be the case when originally assembled). The pictured shade is not included with the table lamp. This is the first of a pair of two nearly identical table lamps that were found in the same estate and which were located on each side of the same sideboard. Amazing hand decorated deer hieroglyphs and beautiful celadon glaze, with reticulated rosewood bases and early brass’S’ form double bulb electrical upper assembly, make this a stunning and extremely decorative and visually pleasing early 20th century Chinese table lamp. They are being offered individually but constitute a natural, original pair and are not a’matched’ pair. Why would anything so beautiful need any? Top shelf, estate fresh and the real deal. The original,’S’ shaped, double bulb, upper electrical bulb assembly, ascending brass stem, harp and finial are all original to the table lamp and are in excellent condition. The table lamp is in working order, with its original electrical wiring, assembly and plug. It does not come with a shade, nor with the one pictured in the listing. RARE Early Antique COLONIAL ROPE BED TIGHTENER, Hand CARVED From Wood, Hearth

RARE 1770 – 1800 Hand-Made Wooden Tightener Used to Tighten Ropes/Mattress in a Colonial Rope Bed. Particularly rare, hand made, wooden rope tightener. Beds during the colonial period had ropes running in both directions, attached to the bed frame. This was in place of more modern steel springs, and supported the mattress (generally filled with hay during this period). With time, the ropes would loosen and the mattress would sag, and this tool was made by the farmer to tighten the ropes periodically. NOT SOMETHING THAT WAS USED AFTER ROPE BEDS WENT OUT ABOUT 1800, SO THEY TENDED TO BE DISCARDED OR MADE INTO SOMETHING ELSE. Therefore you will not see this original colonial wooden tool very often! Scans show it all. It is hand made of hard maple, to provide strength and protect against the stresses of turning and tightening. It also has 2 ANTIQUE IRON NAILS going through it in each direction again to add reinforcement and added strength. It is nicely hand planed along the surfaces, with hand-mitered/whittled edges. The large U-shaped part at one end was chiselled/carved out. This was meant to put over the ropes and pull them together, and tightening them, to provide a tighter, flatter surface. The hole at the top would have a large dowel or stick put through it, the ends of which provided the handholds to turn the main shaft. Most of the ones you see are missing the dowel, as it was cannibalized for some other project after rope beds were no longer used, or they simply broke during use due to the stresses put into the rope tightening. This one is about 14″ long and about 2″ on each side. Nice early wood patina and appearance. EVEN STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL CORD USED TO HANG IT FROM A HOOK ON THE WALL. Came out of an early Revolutionary War Period Massachusetts estate. Would make a great colonial or hearth or kitchen or early bedroom decorator. You can obviously also use it with your antique rope bed if you have one.
