It looks good for what it is and it should still be in working order everything seems nice and sturdy. There is a little piece of the finial that has broke off as seen in my photos but overall it looks good and displays well for what it is. This item is in the category “Antiques\Primitives”. RARE Antique PA GERMAN Early 19th C TIN Punch Decorated SPICE BOX Folk Art- This is a beautifully crafted early tinware spice box- these early boxes are very hard to find. There are some very nice decorative elements such as the raised lines around the box, really nicely made loop pull and the handmade hinge attachments which attach the lid to the bottom of the box, as well as the wonderfully done punch decorated design on the lid of the box and the nicely done solder work. We have found very few similar to this one in over 30 years of collecting. It has excellent naturally darkened patina and is in good to very good antique condition- it shows the natural oxidation of tin, and the solder is is good condition. Here we have an extremely rare pair of lions not shown in any of the books on yellow ware. This pair of recumbent lions on oval bases with a ridged band around the base are nicely molded and have a folk art appeal. This is a unique form produced by only a single potter. Measuring 6 ½” in length by 4 ¼” in height the lions are thickly potted on hollow bases. The lions are in excellent condition with only minor flakes on the base that don’t detract or take away from these magnificent animals. Any serious collector would be proud to add these to their collection. This item is in the category “Pottery & Glass\Cookware, Dinnerware & Serveware\Plates”. Early 20th century Ame ri can antique primitive handmade, hand woven figurative wool hooked rugs. 37 ½” Width x 27″ Height. Offered for your review and consideration is this utterly fantastic, simply amazing and in incredibly well-preserved overall, near originally constituted antique condition, late 19th to early 20th century Ame ri can folk art antique colored wool, handmade hooked rug, featuring a bucolic, near dream-like New England landscape, seemingly bursting with color and complete with a northern New England covered wooden bridge, white clapboard church, stone walls, gnarled old trees, flowers and several figures, as well as a dog. The period rug has no foul smells and doesn’t suffer loss to any of its edges, its black framed borders or even more importantly, in the pictorial field. The area above the wood covered bridge consists of the foliage of trees swirling around like tumultuous wind currents or resembling the rings of receding tidal pools. The maker of the hooked rug seemed particularly focused on enthusiastically portraying the natural bounty, overwhelming beauty and wealth of New England. A veritable Ame ri can antique folk art masterwork. Lush, bright and with gorgeous, brilliant, vivid colors, this wonderful textile art treasure appears to have been rolled up and protected for the more than 100-130 years since it was initially realized. It is nearly, if not, as it was originally constituted. It is a rare feat indeed for a work of textile art to not have the kind of wear we’re accustomed to seeing, when a rug such as this is placed on the floor and walked upon. The presence of dogs, heeled shoes, dirt, sand, wine and food all would have contributed to the hooked rug’s certain depreciation and ultimate demise over time. This was not the case with this incredible work of masterful rug making. It appears never to have been used as a rug or was placed on the floor of a home without pets or children, and away from direct sunlight, since it has virtually no wear or color depreciation at all to speak of. As clean as anyone could ever expect an antique hooked rug to still be. An Ame ri can folk art masterwork in nearly immaculate, pristine condition. It won’t disappoint. Very Good to Excellent overall antique condition. The item “RARE EARLY 20TH C AMERICAN FOLK ART ANTIQUE WOOL HOOKED RUG WithCVRD BRIDGE/CHURCH” is in sale since Sunday, August 2, 2020. A unusually large primitive early 19th century Irish stick back’hedge’ chair, also known as a famine chair. The chair originates from the rural areas where a large part of the population in the 18th and 19th century lived in single-roomed dwellings, demonstrating the widespread rural poverty of the time. Featuring a thick single slab sycamore seat, turned beech front legs and ash arms, sticks and sycamore comb. The chair of wonderful colour and character, is in robust condition for age, with one fascinating period repair of a rear leg having been replaced in chiseled stick form rather than the other three beech turned originals. There are signs of some historic worm activity but the chair is structurally sound. Of particularly unusual, large size. Seat Thickness: 4.3cms. One of the best examples of its kind on the market at present. The item “Rare & Large Early 19th Century Stick Back, Hedge Chair Antique Folk Art” is in sale since Sunday, November 22, 2020.
