C1820 RARE Pair Early American Brass Miniature Silhouette Folk Portrait Frames
What a beautiful pair of early American miniature frames. These date to the first quarter of the 19th century and are composed of a pressed brass molding attached to a wood form backing. These early miniatures are difficult to find in nice condition and this pair is quite unusual for the light moss green tint surrounding the site edge…… Never seen that before and its quite attractive. The frames have their original surface, nice wavy glass, shingle backing and a thin string hanger (was likely originally tin hanger). The pair measures 3 1/8 x 3 1/2 with a 2 3/8 x 2 7/8 rabbet. Fantastic rare, early American pair of frames for silhouettes or miniatures. Thanks from Phoenix Antique Frames. The item “C1820 RARE Pair Early American Brass Miniature Silhouette Folk Portrait Frames” is in sale since Saturday, December 21, 2019. This item is in the category “Antiques\Decorative Arts\Picture Frames”. The seller is “puffkit” and is located in Phoenix, Maryland. This item can be shipped worldwide.

Rare EARLY Antique SHELL ART Seashell Encrusted Vase Folk Art Mosaic Primitive
Exquisite example of early American shell art. The vase is a turned red clay with a white slip covering. Shells are applied all over the surface creating a mosaic pattern of flowers and geometric shapes. There are red/orange glass beads in the center of the flowers. Around 10.75 inches tall and quite heavy. Overall it is in good condition. There are likely a few of the smaller shells that have chipped over the years but you have to hunt to find them. I have more photos if you need or If there is an area of the coat you would like a picture of please be as specific as you can and I will do my best to get it. This coat has been in our Family as long as I can remember beyond that I do not know. I have chosen the 60’s time frame because that is when I was first old enough to see it. All the family members with possible knowledge about it have passed away. I could do a bit of guessing that my Grandparents traveled a lot for work and brought back really great things from all over the world including here in the USA. It is highly possible this was a gift from someone or they had it made. I never remember seeing anyone ever wear it. Some have referred to this coat as a Hippie Coat. I can tell by looking at the coat it is handmade. The only areas I question are the pockets & clasps. Which you can just see the white in picture 9. There are two pockets and the inside white parts are both machine made. However I do not know if those are replaced. The material reminds me of a very heavy cheese cloth. Pockets to this coat are original in design. The Buttons or clasps— interesting again, they are metal and I do not think original. Maybe they are but strange I would not have thought the maker would have used these. They are a shiny brass looking loop style clasp. If you were to change anything about this coat I would change that. I could not find anything on the other side that would hook to this. There are two of these clasps. I have a photo or two of these as well if you like. There is a few threads of embroider that are loose or are white instead of black. The seams and pelt stitching’s are all tight and holding very well. The left shoulder has some wear or maybe the pelt just looks a tiny bit different. (I have a photo to send to you if you want) Look at photo #9 again. That is the inside of the coat. Photo 11 shows you how long the fur is, I have some more photos of this as well, the inside fur is fantastic!!!! And tons of it. Photo 12 is a picture of the inside sleeve. Just to show that the fur has changed and to show some of the hand stitching (I have more photos of this too). The coat is beautifully done and the wonderful embroidery is outstanding. I have close up photos of the embroidery for you as well. The back of the coat is so unique. My dress form is not much of a model but the back has continued embroidery in random patterns that gives a bit of an Indian flair to the coat. I can’t think of anything else to complain about or explain. No complaint, it smells like fur!!!!!!! This is truly a well-made and well preserved coat!!!!!!! You better be in cold weather to wear it or you will burn up!!!! From Shoulder seam to shoulder seam it is approx. From collar to the edge of the fur near the floor it is Approx. 50in long From shoulder seam to cuff is Approx. 23in From inside the coat measuring from one side to the other approx. 43-44in Please let me know if you need measurements of other parts. I called it a Medium. I think the coat would look outstanding with high heeled boots and out to dinner as much as it would look great with mug lugs in the snow. I think the coat fastens high enough up that you could straddle a horse and ride comfortably while still keeping one or both fastened. It does not have a back opening like a duster but it does have some flare to the bottom of the coat. The embroidery across the upper shoulder is outstanding and not enough photo space for all the things I wanted to send to you. Please ask for more if interested. I was calling it Buffalo and had some input and now More specific to the Bison Group it is YAK the longer haired version of the family. This is a positive verification by a Buffalo farm and is the best match of Fur. I researched this item for days before listing it. I certainly do not intend to misrepresent this item. If anyone has further information on this item I welcome all input and will add this to my listing or make statement changes. You may look over the coat and if not satisfied that it is all that was told to you, you may return it at your own cost. RARE Antique Primitive Early American Folk Tramp Art Heart Wood Picture Frame
Very unusual and rare piece of Early American history! This tramp art frame is a great piece of folk art, with wooden hearts on each corner and splayed wooden pieces coming out from each side of the frame, each one hand carved. It is pretty deep, so it could have originally been used as a shadow box for a mourning wreath or something else. Hangs horizontally, but could be changed to hang vertically. Measurements: 17″ tall x 20″ wide x 2 deep. Inside of frame: 9.5″ x 6.5″. Condition: In as found condition. Will need a back, wire, and glass for framing. Also, missing half of one of the hearts. One of the pieces on the sides moves and it may be missing a decorative piece on the side, hard to tell. For its age, it is actually in pretty decent shape. The item “RARE Antique Primitive Early American Folk Tramp Art Heart Wood Picture Frame” is in sale since Thursday, May 23, 2019. This item is in the category “Art\Folk Art & Indigenous Art”.
