This rare antique Southern brown stoneware pitcher hails from the late 18th or early 19th century, making it a unique and valuable piece for collectors. With a spout to handle length of 6 inches and a height of 6-1/2 inches, it is all original. This pitcher showcases the primitive style of the Southern United States. Made of clay in a rich brown color and glazed, this pitcher is a true gem that has been listed by a family member, adding to its authenticity and historical significance. This pitcher is a family heirloom handed down through several generations. Would like for someone to have it who will appreciate it’s beauty and history. My mother told me that the pitcher was “Made on the Pottery Wheel” by either my great grandfather or 2nd greatgrandfather. The pitcher is hand thrown with extremely nice proportions. The glaze is uneven and brushstrokes can be seen on the bottom. It is thick and very heavy. According to family tradition and my genealogy research the Howse family left South Carolina after the Revolutionary War and moved to Jackson County Georgia. In 1860 the family came by covered wagon to North Alabama and settled near what is today Hanceville Alabama. They brought this pitcher with them. My mother who was born in 1910 stated they still used this as a milk pitcher when she was a child. So it was made either by Samuel Howse in South Carolina or Aaron Howse in Georgia.
I had a wonderful opportunity to acquire a gorgeous collection of early 19th century, circa 1820’s chintz. All English printed for the American market. Roller printed & hand block printed. Pillar prints are highly collectible & this is truly a stunning example. The scale is large. Appears in lovely condition for it’s age with a hint of mellowing to the early hues & some surface patina. Excellent for many authentic early period projects & quilt repair, cushions, framing, possibly a cover for a stool or similar etc. And excellent in a collection or archive as these are all very rare survivors. Offering this rare piece of yellowware mocha pitcher. Measures 7.5″ T x 4″ base. This piece is first of it’s kind I’ve had pleasure seeing/owning. Has yellow glaze surface with brown/tan stripe lines as seen. It’s thin pottery like mochaware. The handle is gone as seen and has minor chip on the lip but no other major damage noticed. Beautiful form and look. Expect minor abrasions consistent with age and use.
This is an old ultra antique toy Teddy bear. When shaken, the bear makes a sound. Inside the bear is filled with straw. It’s in good condition, some local coverage has fallen, but this is completely normal, one eye is broken, the material is slightly smudgy, overall condition is very good. Helmet measures to Adult size 7 1/4 model number 60- must see all photos – front thick padded leather with all stitching right and complete interior eight spoke harness with center pad – awesome shape – see several photos ; note – you can also see the Deep Goldsmtih Sporting Goods stamping on the back left leather panel; stitching tight and thick and clean throughout – great overall look! This is a very cool 1930’s adult size 7 1/4 all thick clean and sturdy leather football helmet! As the photos show, the helmet is in very nice overall shape! There are a few gridiron battle scars and add to the cool eight spoke chocolate football harness/thickly padded (see all photos for condition)! The leather is soft and supple and still holding up very strong for being close to 85 plus year old – wow!!! It has a great shine and awesome look! The intimidating brown patina is 100% worn original. The leather interior of the helmet is in super good condition and as you can see has the thick leather interior and exterior 8 spoke harness which denotes the higher quality and craftsmanship includes the foam head display stand as well!!
