Rare Antique Early Craftsman Studios Arts and Crafts Landscape Copper Bookends
Just out of a local smoke free house is this nice pair of Rare Craftsman Studios Arts and Crafts bookends. The bookends have a handcrafted, hammered, and etched woodland landscape design. The bookends have their original rich dark copper patina. They are unmarked but are guaranteed to be by the Craftsman Studios as we found 2 other signed examples and reportedly some of their work was unmarked. They measure about 5 7/8 inches high and about 6 inches wide. The bookends are in good to very good condition with some slight wear, a scratch on the back of one, and the normal wear on the bottoms. See photos as they are part of the description. Would make a nice addition to any collection and is guaranteed as described. RARE HUGO BERGER for GOBERG (GER MA NY) EARLY 20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE SIGNED ARTS & CRAFTS HAND TOOLED, IRON HANDLED CANDLESTICK. W/SIDE HANDLE, WAX COLLECTION RESERVOIR. Antique Arts & Crafts hand tooled iron. 7 ¼” Height x 5 ½” Width (base) x 4 top Width. Offered is this very scarce, signed, early 20th century antique Arts and Crafts tooled iron handled candlestick by Hugo Berger for Goberg Ger ma ny. It was produced at the turn-of-the century around 1910, so 1900 to 1915 would be the best approximate time it was manufactured in Ger ma ny. It possesses some of the quickly recognizable characteristics and hallmark design monikers that came to distinguish Arts and Crafts antique forms. Notably, was the tooled, hammered, heavy gauge sheet iron used in its spare, angular conceptual vision. The center, ascending collared stem of the candlestick, has hammered pits that resemble vertical grains of rice. The side handle is large but instead of being curvilinear where it turns, it instead is informed by a more abrupt, angular shape. The top of the candlestick has two prominent forms. The first being the wax candle receiving port. The 2nd being the upturned concave wax collection reservoir basin. The bottom plate is hammered with four rays emanating from the center, resembling ancient Celtic or Paleolithic hieroglyphs. These are hammered and tooled into the iron plate’s surface. Raised, bas-relief pimples or dots also inform the surface of the base plate of the candlestick. It is stamped on the underside of the base with’Germany. It is a fully integrated, very thoroughly conceived Arts and Crafts candlestick in nearly every way. It would be difficult to think of one single element that could be significantly changed or altered without somehow debilitating the strength of the original design and what has made these now nearly 110 year-old decorative objects, still so coveted and desirable, even today. Great form, great color and great surfaces make this antique Hugo Berger for Goberg (Ger ma ny) Arts and Crafts tooled iron candlestick a great antique decorative object. Good to Very Good overall antique condition. The item “RARE HUGO BERGER FOR GOBERG /GERMANY ARTS & CRAFTS EARLY 20TH C IRON CANDLESTICK” is in sale since Tuesday, December 17, 2019. Roseville EARLY CARNELIAN Antique Table Lamp Arts & Crafts c1915 Rare Pottery
Handsome and rare table lamp which I believe is a piece of the hard to find early Roseville arts & crafts pottery, c. Matte pottery in a hard to describe color which looks like a mixture of green, blue and brown. The electric socket is obviously quite new but the cord is very old and the metal fitting at the mouth has a nice dull copper/brass look and has age. The lamp is in working condition and the pottery has no issues except for a few whitish areas which may be light scratches. The socket looks a bit crooked. SIZE: Pottery part measures 8 (20cm) which is correct for form 45 in the Roseville Early Carnelian range. Overall height is 11.5 (29cm). MARKS: I think I can see a “5” and possibly a “4” (see last photo) but these early pieces were often not marked. Other countries please enquire for a quote. Please take a look at my other Auctions! Please note that photographs are part of the description. I provide professional packing with bubblewrap, packing peanuts and styrofoam. VERY RARE WELLER AME RI CAN ARTS & CRAFTS SIGNED EARLY 20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE CERAMIC FROG BOWL, W/GREEN, BONE WHITE & METALLIC BURNT SIENNA MOTTLED GLAZE DEPICTING A FROG PERCHED ON THE EDGE OF A POND NEXT TO A BLOOMING WATER LILLY. Weller antique Ame ri can Arts & Crafts figurative art pottery and ceramic vessels. 11 ¼ Length x 7. ¾” Depth x 4″ Height including the frog x 2 ½ Height (Bowl). Extremely rare and in simply outstanding, estate fresh condition. Not only are these early 20th century antique Weller Ame ri can Arts & Crafts hand decorated ceramic’frog bowls’ hard to find, but to encounter one in this kind of extremely well-preserved condition, is well, almost simply too much to ask. A plaything and personal artifact of the gods. Gorgeous and an exquisite, nearly unparalleled antique Weller piece of Ame ri can Arts & Crafts ceramic art. Incredible glaze, figuration and surfaces make this a memorable, extraordinary work of antique Ame ri can ceramic art. One magnificent, killer bowl. Clearly signed on the base plate with a black ink Weller Pottery maker’s mark stamp. The small episode of bone white ceramic glaze loss on the base plate to the right and top of the Weller Pottery black ink stamp, is the only noticeable, fairly significant instance of appreciable damage to the dish. No attempt has been made to rectify or to correct this condition issue or to professionally restore this affected area. We decided to leave it exactly as we found it where it was discovered in the South Shore Massachusetts estate where it had been, largely undisturbed and perhaps forgotten, for years and years, apparently with only one previous owner. God created bowls and then God created bowls for Himself. Very Good to Excellent overall antique condition. Please scroll down the page and view enlarged photos below.
