Rare to find Goffering Iron. Goffering / Tally irons were used in making and preparing the ruffles and fluting in clothing from centuries passed. The iron would be heated in a fire, wiped clean, and then held in the iron tube. These tools were used in the 1600’s and into the 1800’s. This rare three legged form with beaded body and finale design dates back to late 1700s to early 1800s. It would be a great addition to any collector of wrought iron or period piece items. It is in great condition with amazing metal patina. Complete with the iron. Sits firm, no wobbles. Will measure about 13″ x 12″ with iregular shape.
It is decorated with a rubbed planished design. It has a question mark style handle which has turned over sides. The base as also been turned over. Shallow dents around the base and neck opening which do not detract but mentioned for accuracy and which I have tried to show in the photos. Photographs are of the actual item and do form part of description in the event that I have missed something in the main part of the item specifics. A Rare Early Mid 1800’s Dolls House. Completely untouched with original interior and exterior decor paint and decorative wall and floor papers. This house is very old and shows signs of age and wear. Five of the original thin glass windows are fractured. I understood collectors of rare items would prefer them unrestored and in complete original condition. If not please contact me 07921583271. The facade mechanism to access is to slide upwards to open and remove and the same to close in reverse. Not heavy in weight. This old dolls house needs sympathetic care and attention. I have the missing facade base piece that has been fractured away. Courier available, please ask me for contact information. Free collection in person.
This is an exceptional piece of early 1800’s (circa 1815) oil on canvas American nautical folk art. Depicts a two-masted schooner with an American flag flying, depicted in a harbor scene. Age related damage including one larger patch of damage to the canvas measuring just under three-quarters of an inch (see last photographs). The frame is newer, most likely under 100 years-old. Label on canvas is from Dan C. Caldwell, a general store in Russell, KY, purveyors of books, stationary, paints, oils, brushes, cigars and tobacco, wall paper, etc. The canvas currently does not sit flush in the frame in one corner, but that could be remedied. Canvas measures 27″ x 22″ and frame measures 32″ x 27.5″.
I believe this to be early Italian handmade from the research I’ve done. This is a grapevine harvesting knife. It is extremely primitive and early looks very new but yet it’s still very functional and feels as though it’s made to open and close properly and it’s own unique handmade design. This is a rare rare artifact and I’ve done very little research and this is everything.
