A fabulous large hand-carved wooden decorative horse sculpture standing on its hind legs. From the early 20th-century, it was believed to have been used for precessional purposes in South-East Asia (Thailand, Cambodia). Standing at 2m tall, it is an incredible decorative piece that’s extremely rare, and it will certainly catch lots of attention. Finished in polychrome paint, it’s thought he may have spent some time outside which is why the paint is so distressed. Named Derek (by us), he fully comes apart and is easy to reassemble. There are some minor repairs visible to the tail and front left hoof (please refer to photographers) which could be cleaned up. 2m (height) x 176cm (width from tip of tail to front hoof). Base: 80cm (length) x 39cm (depth). Please note all our items are vintage or antique and will therefore show signs of age and wear, and we try to reflect this in our photographs. It states the owner was born February 26, 1894. She played with this kitchen as a child. The kitchen once had a kerosene stove for cooking and a small sink with a water tank behind it. This is a beautiful Royal Dux Bohemia, one of the early porcelain pieces. The piece depicts potters with a large column, which is actually a candlestick. It’s an interesting piece due to its historical repair with staples, which was typical for the 19th century (porcelain cost a fortune back then), so I wouldn’t call it a flaw, but rather a feature of sorts. Even this isn’t detrimental and is virtually invisible from the front. Another imperfection is that the pot is missing from the back of the figurine on the pedestal. Apart from that, the porcelain and paint are in near-exhibit condition. Height: approximately 42 cm.
