Antique Boxed Set Of Early Brass Jewellers / Apothecary Weights Rare
May 9, 2026

This is a charming set of antique brass balance weights, dating from the 19th century. Originally used by apothecaries for weighing medicines or by jewellers for weighing precious metals and gemstones, this set offers a wonderful glimpse into historical trade, science, and precision. The weights are housed in their original, beautifully antiqued and hand-crafted wooden box. The brass weights have a noticeable patina from age and are stamped with alphanumeric characters e.’a’,’b’,’c’,’d’ arranged in pentagonal borders and other decorative symbols. They were designed for precise measurement, indicated by the threaded hole on their base. The set is missing its 1g weight. The box measures approximately 13 cm L x 6.5 cm H x 5.5 cm D. Please study the photos for condition as this forms part of the description.
