RARE, VERY LARGE EARLY 18th. CENTURY HAND PAINTED DELFT VASE by PIETER GERRITSZ
RARE VERY LARGE EARLY 18th. CENTURY HAND PAINTED DELFT VASE. This is a wonderful, early, and large 18th. Century hand painted blue and white Delft tin glazed vase of Dutch origin. In a very large shouldered ovoid Orientalist form with small collar rim it’s decorated with fine hand painted stylised images, in an Eastern manner, of a figure in a lake side scene to two panels, while the other two panels portray two figures on a bridge leading to a village. Each panel and shoulder is separated by Orientalist floral borders, while the base has Pieter Gerritsz’s under-glaze hand painted’PK’ mark – see photographs and details. It measures 13″ (33cm) x 8 1/2″ (22cm) W approx; and is in excellent condition for a piece of tin glazed faience of its age however, there are some small firing faults and light crazing, to report – see photographs and details. This is a lovely, large, and unusual Delft hand painted Orientalist vase with an interesting subject, which with a realistic, yet still low start price should get a good deal of interest from all collectors. THERE IS NO RESERVE ON THIS SALE. Almost everything I sell is in the condition I have bought it, unless otherwise stated, (I have learnt to my cost in the past not to tamper with an item), and therefore I have neither had items repaired nor restored. I will endeavour to report on an item which has had either; however I take no responsibility if an item has been tampered with and I cannot detect it. Please don’t waste your time asking for a b. I will dispatch goods on clearance of any of the above. I do not accept – non UK. All parcels are well packed and protected with strong boxes, bubble wrap and packaging peanuts where necessary. So please read them carefully as they are binding. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need additional information.

Very Rare Pair of Japanese Cloisonne Vases manner of early Namikawa Yasuyuki
A very rare pair of Japanese Cloisonne vases in the manner of early works by Namikawa Yasuyuki. In the early stage of Namikawa’s career sometome in the 1870s, he was known to develop a complex translucent enamel technique over copper which produced the orange/red type enamel referred to as cuprite. Published research and similar examples of this type lead to a potential attribution. The vase form adds to the rarity. Possibly candlesticks or given the Buddhist motifs, it’s possible they were for flower vases on an Altar display in a Buddhist temple. 18 cm // 7 inches height There are some condition issues, notably around the mouth rim of one vase. Age related surface wear and imperfections. Please review all photographs.

Rare antique Biedermeier tobacco box, Germany early 19th c, hand-painted
Large table tobacco box (tabakdose), Europe (most likely Germany), early 19th century antique, Biedermeier style. The body is made of metal (probably tin), with decorative brass elements with relief embossing on the top and bottom, and hand-painted. Large dining room snuff box (tabakdose), Europe (probably Germany), early 19th century antique, Biedermeier style. The item depicts two’gallant’ scenes Fête galante painted by the master: a romantic couple against the backdrop of an idyllic landscape and a lady sitting in a boat accompanied by her gentleman. The painting style features a delicate pastel/ochre colour palette and meticulous attention to detail in the faces, clothing and elements of the surrounding landscape. Pastoral and gallant scenes were very popular in decorative art at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, symbolising the refinement, romantic ideals and aesthetic moods of the Sentimentalism and early Biedermeier periods. Height 17.5 cm, diameter approx. The condition is good antique, previously used, corresponding to the age of the item (about 200 years old), with signs of natural ageing and use (scratches, scuffs on the painting, small dents and deformations). The lid is missing. Please see the photos. The style and technique used to make the jar are very similar to those used by the I. Johann (I) Stobwasser’s manufactory in Braunschweig became widely known at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries for its production of lacquered and painted decorative items. Its name is often associated with a certain style – delicate miniature painting under lacquer, soft pastel or ochre colours, as well as scenes and pastoral motifs. Stowasser and the workshops in his circle produced various items, mainly boxes and cases (including snuffboxes and tobacco jars), decorative boxes, often made of papier-mâché or lacquered metal, which were popular among the European bourgeoisie and nobility. Comes as shown in pictures. Condition and size shown in photos. The item belongs to the’Antiques’ category; items may show signs of use, minor scratches, some dirt and texture changes caused by the natural ageing process. Thank you for looking! I look forward to hearing from you.
