They are far too fine to have been dressing tablemats and the characterful paintings appear as if they are from a story. It’s not a story I know or have been able to uncover but they look like illustrations from a. Believed to be from the early 1900s. They are on gossamer-thin silk with a fringed edge and measure 15cms x 15cms. I have taken half of the photos with flash and the others without. I wanted to show that several have a couple of minor brown’foxing-like’ marks and two have many more. The silk appears in good condition structurally.
