Stunning and superb, exceptionally rare early Antique Salviati Venetian Winged Dragon Comport Baloton blown Girasol opelescent honeycomb and fluted bowl in light blue and gold leaf polveri on a folded honeycomb foot with hollow knop and Snapped off pontil Superb cranberry, rose pink with gold leaf polveri dragon, has clear gold leaf wings, black murrine eyes and tongue of Smalto Bianco cased in red There has been some well executed restoration to dragon and bowl attachment points. A crack to the top of the bowl and the dragon is missing part of one ear, one hand and a small loss to one wing A unique opportunity to acquire a very special 19th Century piece Measures approx: 190mm high x 170mm wide Similarly depicted in Venetian Glass of the 1890’s – Salviati at Stanford University by Carol M. Known as the’Strawberry Hill’ pattern Windsor chair, the pierced Gothic tracery back above shaped arms, shaped panel seat, cabriole front supports and crinoline stretcher.
