An Early Rare Victorian Oak Library Armchair Holland & Sons London 1840s

We are Rewind Interiors based in Bourne Lincolnshire PE10. A one-off chance in a lifetime to own some pure British History. 1x An Early Victorian Oak and Leather Library armchair by Holland & Sons Ex Whitehall chair. Its stamped Holland & Sons and VR made by Holland and Sons. Royal warrant holders rare early chair seldom seen outside Museums and Stately Homes. The size is 86cm high back 61cm wide at arms 72.5cm hight of arms. 62cm depth 48cm seat height the chair it got brass castor wheels. Scrolled armrests curved and dished tablet top rail on baluster tapering front legs. And square splayed back legs terminating in brass cappings and castors. The chair has the Holland & Sons stamp also a Journeyman stamp of L. And the later FCO ex-security alarm label fixed to the underside of the frame. Condition: has old rubs to the legs from age and use being as it’s from 1840s age. The seats have been reupholstered in black real leather in the past. And great condition real amazing rare designer antique chair. That were ex Whitehall Foreign & Commonwealth Office FCO pieces. The building that the chair came from. Then became the Foreign office which later became then Foreign and Commonwealth Office. This chair is a once in a lifetime chance to own a piece of Great British History. A fine very early example of a Howard and son’s open arm chair. Rock solid condition sitting on ebonised walnut turned legs with the original cope and colinson brass castors which pre date the Howard and son’s stamped castor. The back leg is stamped 16877 8848. This Rare set of Antique Charles Dickens Illustrated 12 Book Set was published in the late 18 and early 1900s by Thomas Nelson & Sons in London, Edinburgh, and in New York. The books definitely show signs of age… As the red cover is beginning to and has peeled off on edging. The tops of pages have a beautiful gold edging, however on side edges some look worn and a bit yellowish from age. Bindings/pages all seems to be intact. Many in this set don’t even appear to ever have been read. These books are highly sought after. RARE EDITION ANGLEPOISE 1227 BY HERBERT TERRY & SONS. EARLY ARMS WITH MID-ARM TENSIONING BOLT. DATES FROM LATE 1930s TO EARLY 1940s. FULLY WORKING, BUT NOT CURRENTLY PAT TESTED (YOU ARE ADVISED TO GET IT CHECKED). REWIRED WITH 3 CORE VINTAGE FLEX. ORIGINAL CRABTREE BULB HOLDER IS RETAINED. THE LAMP IS FITTED WITH A VERY RARE BAKELITE SHADE (IN SUPERB CONDITION). BAKELITE WAS USED DURING THE INTER AND EARLY POST WAR YEARS, DUE TO METAL SHORTAGES. AS BAKELITE IS VERY FRAGILE, VERY FEW OF THESE SHADES SURVIVED. THE SHADE HAS NO CRACKS/SPLITS. THERE IS ONE SMALL SCRATCH ON THE REAR OF THE SHADE (SEE PIC 12).
