Stunning rare piece dating to the 1700s, with fluffy silk trees, and paper instead of silk for the face. The silk on the back is amazingly thick and soft, as is slightly visible from the back. Hand done verre eglomise, this has a wonderful folk feel about it. Has been reframed at some point as there is cardboard support. Minor flaws as shown, including some foil peeling on the black. There is a lot to be said about this doily. This was completely hand made including the netting and lace work. It is not without a few problems. They are small and not noticeable immediately to the average person. The color’s are magnificent. This is the true heirloom, Silk on Silk. There apparently was a thinning in material that became a small hole. It is next to the trim that goes around the outside, in corner. It is not large, but it is there. There are two very thin slight marks that aren’t as noticeable because of the tree and the branches but they’re there. Please zoom in on every picture and look at this very closely for the details that I can’t put in writing as well as you can look at them, there are other minor things wrong but you can see everything in pictures. As far as washing goes, I would not wash this. I would ask a Museum if you have any questions on laundering or repairing that little hole if you want to do that. It’s extraordinary just the way it is. Myself, I would put it under glass and pass it down in the family. I’m certain, in this condition, that’s what a family did. It measures approximately 17 1/2 x 6. It’s not very large, but it makes a huge statement. It would be wonderful for a collector, or anyone that truly loves antique linens. Not including the handle this sweet diminutive box measures 6″ x 2 1/4″. With handle extended it is 4 1/2 tall. The surface is original with a bit of crackling. Made with copper brad and wooden peg construction. The silk lining has cotton backing. Comes with all that you see. I believe the photographs give an accurate read.

Amazing early silk brocade. Dense and luminous in a larger fern design with pale silvery metallic. Sublime French sourced early brocade though may also be Italian in origin. Either way, an exquisite find. Possibly either once part of a banner, window piece or even clothing, cloak etc.. Not certain but the scallop is very unique and ornamental. Safely early 19thc but feel strongly earlier. Overall, again very strong. There are some subtle faint abrasions, minimal and seen mostly when you lay it down as when it’s upright, the reflection hides them well and it looks quiet pristine. The scallop backing is a very thin silk & is somewhat frail but overall stable. It’s been overall well maintained through it’s journey given it’s age and pale color. It begins at about 18″ in width and gradually goes to about 21″ by 20 long. The scallops add apox 4. At the time of this listing I have 2 almost identical pieces to offer so you can select from the available quantity. Strong enough to be used in special projects, framed or added to a collection. A most marvelous find. I sell antique and vintage fabric. Each textile is different; some possibly used, some unused. I will give you my best assessment. This is a high quality Raingo clock in excellent original condition, rare for its quality and for its unchipped, uncracked condition after nearly 200yrs. Case – very little rub to original gilding and painting. Movement – 8 day striking hour and half hour on a light tinkering bell suitable for the boudoir. Dial – silvered engine turned – Silver age patinated – can be cleaned if preferred but not recommended. Sizes – Clock – 33x18x13cm. They are far too fine to have been dressing tablemats and the characterful paintings appear as if they are from a story. It’s not a story I know or have been able to uncover but they look like illustrations from a. Believed to be from the early 1900s. They are on gossamer-thin silk with a fringed edge and measure 15cms x 15cms. I have taken half of the photos with flash and the others without. I wanted to show that several have a couple of minor brown’foxing-like’ marks and two have many more. The silk appears in good condition structurally.
