RARE ANTIQUE EARLY CHINESE JADE DISC (BI) w/ DUSKY TEAL BLUE SILK HANGING TASSEL JINBU /YAOPEI. This really is a rare and incredible find! This antique, early Chinese dusky teal Jinbu/ Yaopei is in terrific condition for its age! Finding these as intact as this one is is very rare. Usually only the Jade Bi is left. This jinbu / yaopei is in remarkable condition! Ensemble of jade pendants. And/or jade strings which were combined with other precious materials (such as silver or gold accessories) were called. Were a type of. (waist accessories) which were typically worn by women to press down the hemline of their clothing. Appeared thousands of years ago and were initially only worn by nobles, but with time, it was gradually adopted by all women regardless of their social ranks. Also used to be an indicator of elegance and etiquette in ancient times: if the behaviour of its wearer is discourteous i. Walking too fast, the. Would sound loud; and thus, it would remind the wearer to mind his manners and elegance; on the other hand, if its wearer behave appropriately, the. Would sound melodic and pleasant. The jade bi is 1-1/2″ or 3.81 cm in diameter and is almost a 1/4″ thick. The bi is in excellent condition for its age without any chips, cracks or other damage. The woven part of this jinbu / yaopei is in very good condition for its age. It measures 30 in length from tip to tip. Its design and structure are intact without any damage, just a few spots of wear, please see photos. This piece came out of an estate in Monterey, CA. Stunning rare piece dating to the 1700s, with fluffy silk trees, and paper instead of silk for the face. The silk on the back is amazingly thick and soft, as is slightly visible from the back. Hand done verre eglomise, this has a wonderful folk feel about it. Has been reframed at some point as there is cardboard support. Minor flaws as shown, including some foil peeling on the black. Stunningly rare older work.

There is a lot to be said about this doily. This was completely hand made including the netting and lace work. It is not without a few problems. They are small and not noticeable immediately to the average person. The color’s are magnificent. This is the true heirloom, Silk on Silk. There apparently was a thinning in material that became a small hole. It is next to the trim that goes around the outside, in corner. It is not large, but it is there. There are two very thin slight marks that aren’t as noticeable because of the tree and the branches but they’re there. Please zoom in on every picture and look at this very closely for the details that I can’t put in writing as well as you can look at them, there are other minor things wrong but you can see everything in pictures. As far as washing goes, I would not wash this. I would ask a Museum if you have any questions on laundering or repairing that little hole if you want to do that. It’s extraordinary just the way it is. Myself, I would put it under glass and pass it down in the family. I’m certain, in this condition, that’s what a family did. It measures approximately 17 1/2 x 6. It’s not very large, but it makes a huge statement. It would be wonderful for a collector, or anyone that truly loves antique linens. Not including the handle this sweet diminutive box measures 6″ x 2 1/4″. With handle extended it is 4 1/2 tall. The surface is original with a bit of crackling. Made with copper brad and wooden peg construction. The silk lining has cotton backing. Comes with all that you see. I believe the photographs give an accurate read.
