Rare early & small rectangular silver protractor by Jonathan Sisson, c. 1735

A rare and luxuous English rectangular protractor made in silver, engraved J. The protractor, small in size, measures 10.8cmx3.3cm. As well as the usual angular scale the instrument two line of 1-180 degrees and on the other side a diagonal scale for plotting distances on a map or plan ; on the other side, 6 reduction or chart scales. English silver instruments from this period are rare. For another example of a nearly similar size but later produced by Nairne, see Catalogue of the Andrew Alpern Collection number 11, pages 22-23. The penultimate photo shows the image of a Sisson trade card illustrating this same type of protractor, and the last photo shows the size difference between a standard-sized rectangular protractor and this example by Sisson.

Rare Korean Early 1900 Low Rectangular Table “GangWonBan” Personal Dining Table with Hand Painted Chinese Character Good Fortune, 2 Korean Peppers (often used as symbol for a boy) and a Shrimp. This table was most likely a gift to a newly wed couple or to a mother with a newborn son. Kept in storage for over 50 years. The porcelains in the photos are NOT included in the sale. Age: First quarter of 20th century. Provenance: Private collection from South Korea, brought to the U. In the early 80’s. This item was stored in a storage since early 1980 so they are not always in clean. It’s been collecting dust but I did clean up as much as possible without damaging the item. Item is in good condition overall with wear, loss of lacquer, tear, discoloration, smudges and loss of wood. Please see photos as part of description. Dimensions: 18.1″W x 13.2″D x 11.2H. Unusual Early Digital Rectangular Jump Hour Rare Example 1930s Art Deco. This is a rather unusual early mechanical jump hour. This style of watch is also known as an early digital watch. If you just search 1930’s Jump Hour you will find these. Some of these are quite expensive. Chrome plated case measures 25.5mm in diameter without crown X 36 mm lug tip to lug tip. Would benefit from a re-chrome. Hand winder movement looks quite clean. It winds, sets and runs too but doesn’t seem to be very accurate. Watch is rather slow. It is roughly -2 hours in 24 hours. I guess it would benefit from a fresh cleaning and lubrication. Service history in unknown. A RARE EARLY TROIKA POTTERY RECTANGULAR DISH WITH MATT AND GLOSSY GLAZED ABSTRACT DESIGN IN DARK BLUE AND GREEN. MADE IN ST IVES, CORNWALL c. MAKERS MARK = Painted to base. DIMENSIONS = 30cm x 19.8cm (11 3/4in x 7 3/4in). CONDITION = VERY GOOD some discolouration to underside with a few very faint patches visible under the white glaze inside.
