It is a beautiful example and a rare form of a Tinware Chocolate Pot. It has a great and rare form and it is in really good condition for its age and use. It has the wonderful side wooden handle and has no spout as is a shared feature for a lot of chocolate pots. It is a flat base and has some very old solder repairs on the top of the rim base – done very nicely and only mentioned for accuracy sake. I have not seen this form before and even in our research for listing this -I have not seen an exactly similar example. It stands approximately 4.5″ tall to the top of the finial and approx 7.25″-7.5″ long with handle included and the base measuring approx 3.75″ X 2 7/8 diameter base-excluding the wooden handle. It is free from holes and has some surface patina that you want to see on your antiques- some minor dentsoxidation and surface wear- some minor wear to wooden handle- the handle is a little loose as the wood may have shrunk over the years. Hard to find one like this in this country, every turns, screws, locks as it should, comes as shown in photos so please study, made from very high quality pre war cast steel, in great condition for its age, I haven’t tried to clean it, it is as I found it, will need a gentle clean with fine wire wool and metal cleaner, very rare and very sought after. Joseph Hoffman-Moser Rare Early 1900’s Hand Made Ruby. Gold Gilded Chalice Lidded Goblet. Very rare & unique piece done by a Master Glass Artist. Rare, unique early 1900’s Lidded Chalice/Goblet made byJ. Hoffmann at Moser Glass Works this early. Gorgeous raised Ruby Cabochon panels (8). W/matching Lid, gold gilding all over, 8 facet stem work to base, perfect throughout, top, stem, lid, small chip on top of base. However this is a early 1900’s piece of rare Art Glass that lasted through 2 World Wars to make it to America. We have owned for 30+ years, estate sale in NY mid 80’s. 5 inches tall w-lid on, 6.75 w-o lid on, 3 inches across at rim, thick glass walls around 8 panels. Cup is 3.5 inches deep, incredible stem work 8 facets down to thick base of 8 facets base= 3 inches by 8 facets as well. Base is 1/2 inch thick, polished pontil. Upright posts are hand turned, pegged into the bottom 4. Firm wire holds spools on, pull across by knobs on the right side 5. Notice the little white decoration on the top of the posts 6. I have not cleaned this, right out of NH attic 7. Original natural patina, no urethane, no stain, natural color 8. This is really a very nice early item. Between the upright posts 4.5 3.
