Original Antique Doll – Made in Germany. Bisque Socket Head / Composition Body / Plaster Pate – Stands Approx. 17″ Tall – Marked: “C” (only) Here is a very rare find, a precious Kestner-made “C doll. That is her only identifying mark, aside from her plaster pate. According to experts in the field, Kestner made this head mold with just the large incised “C” for a Cassel doll company in Sonneberg, Germany. This little cabinet girl is 17 of pure charm, and I fell in love with her at first sight! She has a such an innocent expression of wonder, with delicate and artistically executed facial painting. She has her original sparkling blue eyes, antique plaster pate, and a very long & silky honey-blond (replaced) human hair wig. She has pierced ears with tiny coral-color earrings, and a lovely diminutive mouth with all original teeth. Her beautiful antique German body has its all-original patina, with wear only to the paint on her fingers. I believe the body is original to this doll. She is wearing a stunning and elaborate antique outfit, with lovely lace, ribbon, and floral embellishments. Her antique undergarments are precious, and she is wearing very pretty crocheted off-white lace socks with tan leather shoes. Unsigned Doll: We confidently attribute this doll to J. Kestner as one of their early works. But, as with any attribution, what you are getting is a professional opinion. Thank you for your understanding. Beautiful antique condition — from a non-smoking environment. She has one tiny kiln crack behind her right ear (final photo), but no other issues noticed with the bisque after careful examination. Also, no facial blemishes or cheek rubs. IMPORTANT: Besides the noteworthy issues mentioned above, EXPECT any antique doll (bisque/composition/leather/china/wood) to ALSO have: (1) SIGNS OF AGE – for example: toned/crazed/chipped composition, minor wig pulls, loss of “hair” lashes on bisque heads (if they had them), not-so-tight stringing, etc. (2) MINOR CONSERVATION WORK by previous owners/collectors – for example: reset eyes in most cases! , repairs to wig, repairs to clothing, touch-ups on composition/finish/paint, etc. Any MAJOR issues — hairline crack, total repaint, etc. – would be itemized above, but these normal age/conservation details are not. This is a fabulous 1920s hand produced Kathe Kruse cloth doll mold VIII. We photographed the markings on the feet to show all the numbering. Normally the later wigged version is found. The body is thin cloth and delicate given the age. The split on the leg could use a stitch or several if you want to change the socks. It was redressed as a boy and that clothing is included. The underwear and panties are time period to the doll. The sweater and hat are mid century. Early Rare Crow Indian Pipe Tomahawk Forged Spontoon Head Cross Lorraine Cutout

Native American Indians were a deeply spiritual people and they communicated their history, thoughts, ideas and dreams from generation to generation through Symbols and Signs such as the Cross symbol. The origin of the Cross symbol derives from the ancient Mississippian culture of the Mound Builders of North America. The cross that is cutout in the blade resembles a Cross of Lorraine which is a style of trade silver from the 1700’s. Ornaments of sheet silver were made specifically for use in the fur trade by silversmiths in Canada, England, and the United States. These silver ornaments, although of Eur-american manufacture, have always been regarded by anthropologists as an integral part of North American Indian culture, reflecting many aspects of Indian-white relations in the latter 18th and early 19th centuries. The pipe tomahawk is in excellent condition with no repairs or damage. Spontoon style head patterned after the pike heads of the Spanish Conquistadors and explorers. Nice head forged, most likely was a rasp file re-purposed and reforged. Walnut wood haft is original to the head. The brass tacks are original old square shank tacks. All along the haft are many ceremonial file branding marks made by placing a file or rasp in the fire until it was bright red and then burning the file into the haft. This was done for aesthetic “looks” and ceremonial purposes. There is a drilled hole for attaching drops or beads. The head is slightly loose, the result of the wood drying and shrinking over the course of 170 years. VERY NICE patina all over, really shows its age! The unusual style head is very desirable. Conservatively dated to 1840 but may be earlier. The haft of the tomahawk is measuring 22″ long and the head is measuring about 12″ long. Please ask any questions you may have. Im unable to identify maker.. Close to early Indian but definitely NOT Indian.. Looks very similar to early Curtiss heads but slightly different…. Crusty and dirty but looks to be in decent shape… Has a broken fin (see pic with red circle). Hopefully someone can use it.. Or just put ot on your shelf with all the other cool early parts! Rare Early English Medieval Anglo-Saxon Iron Double Bladed Axe Head Conserved

Add To Saved Sellers. Rare Early English Medieval Anglo-Saxon Iron Double Bladed Axe Head Conserved. Oxide conserved via removal and oiling. Century AD Holme, Cambridgeshire. Axe blades at 9 cm each: overall length at 22.5 cm: weight at 432 grams. This Anglo-Saxon axe head [and currently listed mace head and spear] were recovered in the area of a known battle, which took place in the winter of AD 903 / 904: Although it cannot be proved to be from this battle – it is highly likely. This is a rare and complete double-bladed axe head, which was found locally along with a period Anglo-Saxon spiked mace head. The axe head has been forged in the whole and detail a square central outer body-collar with a circular hafting hole within at a diametre of 2.8cm. The axe blades each project 9 cm from the central hafting socket: It is very rare to have an item in this complete condition and referenced to a historically known battle site in the early Medieval period. Oxide removal and careful oiling and sealing to a museum display standard. This item was unearthed locally in the winter of 1994 while a series of drainage ditches were being extended by farm workers: and I acquired the item and a similar period Anglo-Saxon mace head from the finder in 2003: When I received the items they were as dug and, as such suffering with oxide degradation: Before adding them to my armoury collection I carefully conserved the item and the results are now appreciated. The Battle of Holme. The village of Holme is thought to be the site of a battle, said to have taken place in the winter of AD 903 904, during a period of civil war between two claimants to the throne of Wessex after Alfred the Great died. His son Edward the elder took the throne of Wessex but Æthelwold, son of Alfreds older brother disputed his claim. In AD 902 Æthelwold came with a fleet to Essex and the following year he persuaded the East Anglian Danes to attack the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of Mercia and north Wessex: Edward retaliated by ravaging East Anglia and the Danish army was forced to return to defend its own territory. Edward then retreated along the Great North Road, but the men of Kent straggled. Æthelwold and the Danes caught up with them and it is thought chased them down Glatton Lane to the Fen edge at Holme. They were unable to escape and in the ensuing battle Æthelwold and the Kentish leader were killed: Although the Danes won the battle it did end the brutal civil war in the south. This battle is mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon chronicles and it reports that thousands of combatants were killed.
