Rare Antique Fire Helmet With Shikoro early SHOWA firemans 1900s. It will be a sashiko (fire hat) of the fire brigade. Since it is an item from the early Showa era, it seems to be a fairly rare item. Offered for your review and consideration is this absolutely wonderful and just recently discovered in southern New Hampshire, hand decorated, hand sewn heavy leather upright fire bucket, featuring gold gilt enamel paint over an emerald green painted field, with’No. 2′ hand painted along the top margin, signifying which firefighting pump or ladder truck it was associated with and belonged to. The date of its realization is hand painted along the lower margins’1826. There’s some slight to moderate gold gilt enamel loss only in this area contained within the banner. The heavy sewn leather seams are still incredibly intact and complete, with no thread loss. The leather sidewalls aren’t distorted or deformed. The bucket is now missing its original leather wrapped carrying handle, which had broken free of the leather side hoops. A beautiful, original, unadulterated antique piece of Ame ric ana. Found in southern New Hampshire. The fire bucket hasn’t been touched. It remains as it was when it was removed from the estate it was originally discovered in and to which it was associated with for many, many years. From the early 19th century Massachusetts’ Atlantic coastal town of Salisbury, Massachusetts with love, from between 185 to 220 years ago, comes this exciting, recently discovered, deep emerald green enamel, hand painted and gold gilt hand lettered, Ame ri can antique New England primitive leather fire bucket, from around the time of the War of 1812, or shortly thereafter. Just recently found in an early southeastern New Hampshire post and beam home, this rare antique leather fire bucket is as it was when it was unearthed in the home, where it had been for literally centuries or as long as anyone in the home was aware of. The bucket’s sidewalls feature 100% original period, hand painted surfaces and dry, matte finish. The fire bucket has no sidewall’pushes,’ deformities, dents or dings. The leather wrap on the wound hemp rope handle has moderate loss at and around the apex of the looped handle. It also doesn’t have any leather tears or deep, noticeable abrasions. The hand painted and hand lettered typography is now reduced by previous exposure to the soot of previous fires and from the effects of light and of time. The surfaces haven’t been artificially enhanced with lacquer or cleaned. This wonderful early 19th century Ame ri can antique New England primitive, hand decorated leather fire bucket remains untouched and unrestored and in 100% original estate condition. For your review and consideration is this very rare and absolutely fantastic, recently discovered early 19th century Ame ri can folk art New England primitive sewn leather fire bucket, featuring hand painted, decorated front sidewall, with a hand painted #2 numeric font in gold gilt enamel paint. The fire bucket also feats a nearly intact leather wrapped carrying handle, with both of its original brass ring side clasps, with one leather hoop having broken away and previously snapped long ago. The dry, matte painted surfaces featuring 100%, absolutely original, first generation enamel paint. The #2 numeric font is wonderfully realized in gold gilt enamel paint and shadowed with both red and green hand painted line. The #2’s surrounded by a vertical oval gold gilt, green and red enveloping circle. The upper and lower margins of the leather fire bucket also have tri-color, hand painted bands, which circumnavigate the vessel’s body. With only minimal to moderate paint loss, this very rare and now exceedingly difficult to find late 18th to early 19th century Ame ri can fire bucket’s 100% untouched. A wonderful early 19th century Ame ri can folk art New England primitive firefighting artifact and now over 200 year-old Ame ri can cultural relic. These certainly aren’t floating out of the sky like ice cream sundaes with parachutes, that’s for damn sure. Good to Very Good overall antique condition.
