Superb quality of bisque, very pale. Very beautiful expression of face. Mouth open on double row of teeth. Magnificent clear hazel eyes fixed in enamel. Pierced ears with original blue buckles. The head is marked engraved on the back R. Very pretty original wig blond natural hair with antique silk blue ribbon with his shell cork pressed, all original. The head is mounted on its very beautiful original Rabery Delphieu body fully articulated in composition and wood, hands intacts. The elastic bands are original, therefore relaxed, so they will have to be changed or left as is. This Rabery Delphieu bébé is superbly dressed in a very beautiful antique dress in very good condition, in fine cotton flowers and lace, antique silk blue ribbons. Antiques underwears shirt, panty and petticoat, all bordered lace antique (to clean). Antiques shoes leather and socks. Height : 19,64 inches Rare bébé of collection! Beau et rare premier bébé ancien Rabery Delphieu à double rangée de dents taille 1 (50 cm) parfait état. Tête en biscuit en parfait état, sans fêle ni restauration. Oreilles percées avec boucles d’oreilles d’origine bleues. La tête est marquée en creux sur l’arrière R. Très belle perruque d’origine longue blonde en cheveux naturels avec nuds de soie bleus anciens avec sa calotte en liège pressé, le tout d’origine. La tête est montée sur son très beau corps Rabery Delphieu d’origine entièrement articulé en composition et bois, mains intactes. This is an excellent early American double silhouette/miniature frame. Made with veneered mahogany over pine this little frame has great patina. A skilled craftsman carefully lap jointed the corners and dovetailed each side into the middle support. Early wire hanger, rippled glass and hand chamfered backboards. Measures 6 x 9 1/8 with a 3 7/8 x 5 rabbet for each section. Beautiful little early American frame with great proportions. Please see my other listings for some great frames i have recently listed. Early Antique Egg Carrier. Presented for your consideration is this early egg carrier or holder. The carrier is made of pewter and features ornately designed handles on the sides as well as the top of the carrier. Top of the carrier has two flaps which open to reveal the removable, two tier egg holder. An ornate leaf pattern is on each of the four sides of the removable carrier and there are a dozen slots for eggs. The carrier easily slides in and out of the holder. The front side of the carrier has a small bird engraved into the middle. This early and hard to find egg carrier would make a wonderful addition to any pewter or kitchen item collection! A fun item to store eggs in! There are two holes in the bottom of the carrier but could be soldered. Flaps are bent inward, but not drastically, and the insert shows some bending on both tiers. Bottom edge of the front and back appears to have been repaired at one point. Typical light wear from age and use. Overall in GOOD-VERY GOOD condition. Please refer to the photos for the best details. Measures 11 1/2″ handle to handle, 5″ deep and 11″ tall (6″ tall excluding the top handle). Add To Saved Sellers. Rare Early English Medieval Anglo-Saxon Iron Double Bladed Axe Head Conserved. Oxide conserved via removal and oiling. Century AD Holme, Cambridgeshire. Axe blades at 9 cm each: overall length at 22.5 cm: weight at 432 grams. This Anglo-Saxon axe head [and currently listed mace head and spear] were recovered in the area of a known battle, which took place in the winter of AD 903 / 904: Although it cannot be proved to be from this battle – it is highly likely. This is a rare and complete double-bladed axe head, which was found locally along with a period Anglo-Saxon spiked mace head. The axe head has been forged in the whole and detail a square central outer body-collar with a circular hafting hole within at a diametre of 2.8cm. The axe blades each project 9 cm from the central hafting socket: It is very rare to have an item in this complete condition and referenced to a historically known battle site in the early Medieval period. Oxide removal and careful oiling and sealing to a museum display standard. This item was unearthed locally in the winter of 1994 while a series of drainage ditches were being extended by farm workers: and I acquired the item and a similar period Anglo-Saxon mace head from the finder in 2003: When I received the items they were as dug and, as such suffering with oxide degradation: Before adding them to my armoury collection I carefully conserved the item and the results are now appreciated. The Battle of Holme. The village of Holme is thought to be the site of a battle, said to have taken place in the winter of AD 903 904, during a period of civil war between two claimants to the throne of Wessex after Alfred the Great died. His son Edward the elder took the throne of Wessex but Æthelwold, son of Alfreds older brother disputed his claim. In AD 902 Æthelwold came with a fleet to Essex and the following year he persuaded the East Anglian Danes to attack the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of Mercia and north Wessex: Edward retaliated by ravaging East Anglia and the Danish army was forced to return to defend its own territory. Edward then retreated along the Great North Road, but the men of Kent straggled. Æthelwold and the Danes caught up with them and it is thought chased them down Glatton Lane to the Fen edge at Holme. They were unable to escape and in the ensuing battle Æthelwold and the Kentish leader were killed: Although the Danes won the battle it did end the brutal civil war in the south. This battle is mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon chronicles and it reports that thousands of combatants were killed.
