Rare Kellogg Switchboard & Supply Co very early dial desk cradle telephone. This was the earliest dial desk cradle telephone built in this country. It was inspired by French design. The handset, cradle and dial have been newly re plated with nickel just like it was originally. The body was blasted, primed and painted with several coats of automotive spray lacquer. The telephone is connected to a Kellogg wood subset (ringer box) with exposed nickel bells. The subset can be on desk or mounted on wall. The cloth cords are new. The modular line cord can be plugged into a modern outlet found in most all homes. Most Grab-A-Phones were non dial and produced in large numbers. Few dial types were produced. Kellogg quickly switched to simpler and much less expensive cradle phones. I rarely find one of these and the restoration is quite tedious and time consuming. The results are outstanding. A Large, Rare13 Dial Early 1900s W&H School/Railway. Single Fusee Clock – GWO. Overall width 16.5, Dialwidth 13, Depth 5. This well-known company originally founded in 1825, were also involved in optical instrument manufacture. Were considered the finest clockmakers in the Victorian era. They were based in several towns in Germanys Black Forest region. The company was established in1810 by Thomas Winterhalder in Friedenweiler, southern Germany. Hence the trade mark W & H. Sch clearly visible on the movement. The large heavy metal cream 13 dial. (much rarer than the normal 12 dial) is in very good condition. It has the appearance of being recently professionally restored, is surrounded by a large section 23mm deep brass bezel and displays the large black hands and Roman numerals to good advantage. The bezel hinge still allows the glass door to close well on its brass clasp. The glass, which would appear to be a later replacement is 3mm thick and therefore stronger than the more normal 2mm thickness. The high quality 8-day W & H Fusee movement. Really is a beautifully neat, well-engineered piece of German craftsmanship. It has been bench tested for several full spring cycles and shows very good time-keeping. It comes complete with key and original W & H pendulum. The beautifully polished all-wood oak case with superb grain. Has a side opening door and a bottom door for pendulum access, both complete with brass closures. The back box is secured with 4 matching pegs. Altogether, this well-proportioned antique timepiece is in remarkably good operating condition and considering the unusual dial size, and the rarely found smaller than usual high quality movement is both collectible and capable of enhancing any room in either a domestic or office setting. Therefore where p0ssible local collection is recommended. UK buyers only please. Researched as much as I could and cant find another this Style you might do better, it has the balance weight and key but not the connecting piece but I have tried one out of another clock and it all works fine, one small chip at the bottom as seen in pictures, the hinge on the glass face needs replacing or just soldering, there is a small crack in the corner of the bottom piece of glass barely noticeable you can see if you zoom in on main picture I have tried to give an honest description please ask if you need any more information. LOVELY OLD ANTIQUE GEORGIAN BRASS DIAL LONGCASE CLOCK. JO Band of Bridgwater – 1760-79 (James Osmond Band). Early engraved brass dial 30 hour longcase clock. In a plain pine country case, lovely golden colour and patina – 81 high. Superb 11.5 square dial with fine spandrels, finely cut original hands, and large date wheel. All in exceptional condition and in good working order keeping excellent time. Chain driven movement striking the hours on a large bell. Ornate ringed pendulum bob. A very rare maker, I have never come across another Band clock. He was in partnership with a James Hine as braziers and ironmongers, in Bridgwater the business dissolving in 1772 when Hine moved to Exeter, and Band continued the business in Bridgwater. At the time Bridgwater was a major centre for brass, bronze and other metal foundries. However Band and Hine continued to advertise a wide range of goods after that date at their warehouse in North St Exeter, including church and other clocks. Excellent clock ready to put in your home.
