This is a beautiful and very rare Loetz decorated art deco era vase standing 7 high and dating to the 1920s. As the pictures show it is a glossy orange with black stripes typical of the Powolny Tango designs and made more unusual with extra detailing and white glass beading. The vase is in excellent condition.
Very rare classical inspired early 19th century wood box decorated with marbled paper and green glass’jewels. The main body is shaped & made of wood covered with marbled papers and decorated with gold trim and glass beads. The lid is made of firm card (not wood) and features the head and torso of a classical female. This box is in good condition for it’s age – there is damage to the lid marbled paper (top left) and some of the gold trim is missing. The base is in very good condition with clear blue marbled paper. The inside of the box is covered with plain cream paper and in very good condition. I bought this box in the 1980’s – it has been kept in a clean non-smoking home. Please look at photos for condition as this is a rare antique item – inspired by the discoveries of the early 19th century. This item is in the category “Antiques\Woodenware\Boxes”. A lovely example of the skill of the Wemyss artists. This one might have been painted by Karol Necola. He died in 1915 and Edwin Sandland became the head artist. In 1928 Karols son Joe Necola took over before bringing the whole pottery down here in Devon The design is a soft delicate pink rose design and could have been painted by any one of these three. The base is signed Wemyss and the Wemyss mark is impressed, which tells us that this piece is. Pre 1930, the year they moved from Fife to Devon. They are 18cm tall. RARE Antique PA GERMAN Early 19th C TIN Punch Decorated SPICE BOX Folk Art- This is a beautifully crafted early tinware spice box- these early boxes are very hard to find. There are some very nice decorative elements such as the raised lines around the box, really nicely made loop pull and the handmade hinge attachments which attach the lid to the bottom of the box, as well as the wonderfully done punch decorated design on the lid of the box and the nicely done solder work. We have found very few similar to this one in over 30 years of collecting. It has excellent naturally darkened patina and is in good to very good antique condition- it shows the natural oxidation of tin, and the solder is is good condition. It is hard to find this type of untouched/uncleaned original aged surface patina. The spice box measures approximately 3.5 in height to to top of lid. It is approx 7″ wide and approx 4.75″ in depth. View my other auctions for additional fine period items. This will make a nice addition to your Antique Tinware or Decorative Accessories collection..
