On offer from my own collection. Rare original early Cruciform decanter or serving bottle c 1720. They were closed using a cork not a glass stopper, and the idea was that having more body area from the shape, the contents would cool quicker when placed on ice. They were said to be uses for cider or champagne. This one having a v section string rim similar to an onion wine bottle, and re-fired type pontil. Good used condition no chips or cracks, but has had professional restoration to the lip at some time in its life, but does not detract nice job. Height 20.5 cm 9.5 cm across base both ways. Added 23/02/21 The chip like shape in the lip is not a chip, just a fold in the glass or air bubble not a problem not broken the surface. Only some one asked that question today. I WILL BE LISTING OTHER EARLY GLASSES FROM MY COLLECTION OVER THE COMING MONTHS, SO LOOK OUT FOR SOME BARGAINS. Rare Early Antique Three Piece Mold Decanter Olive Green Bottle with Open pontil. A fine and nearly flawless specimen of a nearly 200-year-old decanter. Three piece molds were used early on to allow for more elaborate designs. This is a much earlier three-piece leaf molded bottle. This early American bottle was produced by the Keene Marlboro Street Factory, Keene, NH. In the 1820s or 1830s. The three vertical mold seams on this bottle are also well disguised by the elaborate body pattern and are only obvious where a horizontal or diagonal line intersects the mold seam. A true gem of a bottle that any collector would be happy to own! There are no chips or cracks, and it measures approximately 7.25 tall by 3.75 wide. The piece is cut on an ultra clear super heavy blank in a beautiful whiskey jug shape. The cut, weight, and clarity is superior. This is a great piece of glass when in the hand.
